Layering with the Arc'teryx Beta AR

This video is a whole flex.
Outstanding video! Your technical expertise married with your straightforward approach is nothing short of splendid! I will be sharing this video with someone whom recently acquired the beta AR from Arc’teryx!
Glad to see you making vids again. I just discovered you a few weeks ago. You make very detailed reviews, keep it up!
I just got myself a practitioner 21 version as I'm lucky to be in the program. I've also got a delta lt and will probably add a kionite ar later Great video, keep them coming as no one is really doing proper reviews for the intended public: skiers/snowboarders, it's either trendy or trekking or japanese channels ...

Appreciate the feedback. Some of us actually use these items outdoors, so it’s good to know this vid helped someone somewhere.
Exact vid I was looking for. Convinced me to get the Beta AR. Arc should be sending you free stuff.

Currently working on a Part II featuring the Beta AR with Gore Most Rugged. The fit is slightly revised compared compared to the Gore Tex Pro model featured here.
This was probably the most informative video on Arc'Teryx jackets. Keep the reviews coming. Do you recommend a Therme insulated jacket or getting a 3 layer system? I was thinking a Beta AR, Atom AR and a Kyanite AR tech wool hoody. You think this is a better combination for Colorado/ Chicago weather?
@ALTAGEAR

I replaced it with the Seamaster Pro with the white dial. It’s just a much better watch and definitely better looking.
Hey I’ve got a question, I am 6ft usually size large in jackets. Should I be going for medium or large in the beta AR? (Won’t be wearing much layers, the jacket will mainly be used for hikes)
@ALTAGEAR
Жыл бұрын
Stick with your proper size. Arcteryx bakes in their sizing and fit accommodate a layering system. Though shells will feel a bit sloppy with no layers under, but thats by design.
The atom lt might be the perfect fit with 60 grams vs the 80 grams of the proton, I have both so I will have to play around with this

Did you manage to figure if the atom lt fits nicer than the proton fl? Can’t decide which to pare the beta ar with.
@robertjustin1291
Жыл бұрын
@maxbirch9989 it's close but I recommend the atom lt. You can compensate for the cold with just a slightly thicker base layer under the atom. In 30° and snow I had a SmartWool long sleeve midweight base layer with the Atom LT and beta ar. I was completely content.

do you know if i can use the Arc'teryz Atom LT Hoody with the Beta AR and would it still be comfterble around the neck?

I’ve done that pairing. Works great. I wear a size large in Arc’teryx with about a 17” neck.

Yes. I have done that combo many times. Both size large.

Depends on where you live. I grew up in NYC, if I were getting something by Arcteryx for around town I'd probably get a Gamma MX for Fall and Spring, and for winter a Therm or Beta Insulated.
wow, great video!
Nice demonstration, very informative. When layering are you using all the same size? If you could only buy one for mountaineering, would you go with the beta ar or beta sv? Thank you!
@VB-3

I'd go with the Beta SV for those purposes. It has a drop pocket, is longer and tougher.

I wish I could say it was something special, but it was purchased off Amazon in a 5 pack bundle for maybe $15. Try this link and the option is Boho Series: www.amazon.com/Toes-Home-Headband-Seamless-Resistence/dp/B07G134ZJ4?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

Try the Proton LT. You'll be very happy.
Would you say sizing up in the AR if the hip area is a bit tight? I’m between L and XL. 5,7’ 220
@ALTAGEAR

Usually, I’d recommend if someone is between sizes, sizing up makes more sense, especially if the intended use is more technical than casual.
How about the atom lt hoody jacket what you think of that combination great video...
@ALTAGEAR

The Atom LT pairs wonderfully with the Beta AR. Since the Atom LT hood and collar aren’t heavily insulted, fit, articulation and overall comfort remain high.
What do you think about the Atom LT? Thanks the vid!

Would the Atom LT be a good every day jacket for fall/ winter ? I plan to wear a hoodie under it
@ALTAGEAR

Depends on how cold it gets where you are and how often you’re standing still out in the open. If you live in a place like NYC, it wouldn’t be enough for me personally during winter. If your winters are milder, yes 40F and up, it should be fine with a sweater or hoody.

Beta SV and Atom AR good for cold weather hiking? sub 30s or would my Atom LT suffice
@VB-3
2 жыл бұрын
Hiking in 30’s is a cake walk for the Atom LT. If it’s not snowing hard you probably won’t need shell either. But I would recommend keeping a light fleece with you as well.
@ALTAGEAR

I concur with the above. For moderately strenuous hiking the Atom AR is brutally warm and you’ll probably overheat. The Atom LT is plenty.

what are your thoughts on the beta ar over a cerium lt?
