Finally a video explaining Arcteryx jackets to rule them all!
Definitely the very best video I’ve ever seen on whole Internet explaining and describing jackets. THIS IS the video, which all brands should have. They should pay you for this ! THANKS 👍

would love to see a 2022 version as they have added more jackets
Wow the music was driving me insane, didn’t know where it was coming from 😆 great video
I've finally found the brand just for me, Arcteryx Sigma.
Very informative, thank you. I’m still probably going with the Patagonia Triolet for rugged canoe tripping.

Depending on your durability needs, any of the Beta series will serve you well!

super well done vid!
There’s a new model, the Sabre SV. It’s their new flagship ski shell I believe. It uses the gore Tex pro N100d all over

Yes, Arc'teryx has also been transitioning to a new naming scheme for over a year now but somehow is incomplete in the process.
So im going to be buying a rab down jacket but now reslise i need a waterproof coat so figured out which one ima save for. The alpha sv! Just 700 short ahhshs

Do you climb a lot? The Beta SV might be a better option.
You missed the Beta LT
Currently stuck between the beta AR and the Alpha SL. They are both very different but reading reviews from outdoorgearlab the Alpha SL seems to outperform the Beta in every aspect with the exception of the beta being a tad more durable. I want to use my hard shell in all weather conditions, for running, for climbing but also for hill walking and camping. I want it to last years and years. Currently stuck on which to get. The Alpha SL seems like the one to buy but I’m worried about durability. It’s been the outdoor gearlabs top jacket for 8 years running so that’s what’s persuading me at the moment. What are your thoughts? It seems strange that I’m comparing these two!!
@abearsmind

Beta AR will probably fit your use cases better if you can get along with the drop hood. Alpha SL is a specialized piece that was designed for climbing/alpinism, unless you can live with the single chest pocket. I would pick the Alpha SL over Beta AR if my primary use was active use only.

@@abearsmind I see thank you for the reply. Maybe the Beta LT is a good inbetween? Or will this have poor durability?
@abearsmind
3 жыл бұрын
@@Fun_Dealer The Beta LT will stand up to your regular day to day use and outdoor usage as long as you're not bushwhacking or rubbing on coarse surfaces all the time (rocks etc).

@@abearsmind I’m not too hard on my jackets. Then get the occasional scrape from scrambling but that’s about it. Thanks for your help! Arcteryx should pay you a wage! Haha
Hey man loved the explanation! So many options to choose from but I was wondering what would be best for rainy weather and wind not much activity just to walk around outside but must be waterproof and light . What’d you recommend?
@abearsmind
2 жыл бұрын
The Beta LT would be a good all round choice, with the Norvan LT as a second if you don’t need pockets. However if lightness and pockets are required the Zeta SL will be best, just make sure you wash it regularly as Paclite+ has delamination issues.
Great explanation.

Lol I literally went over their entire website reading about all their jackets/hoodies/parkas. I came away with a few ones I like but geez it was kind of annoying deciding between LT or AR 😅
@abearsmind

LT is almost the most logical choice. AR would be a buy once and forget it kinda deal IMO.
Thank you for the vid! I'm still having a hard time. Which one do you recommend for bushwhacking?

Hi Jeff, what’s the main difference between Fraser and Beta series? Can you share your view from usage perspective please? Thank you.
@abearsmind
3 жыл бұрын
Fraser is C-knit (softer) and Beta uses regular/pro goretex membranes. In essence they are all waterproof, Fraser is more comfortable next to skin and is intended for urban usage. The Beta series can be used in both urban and outdoor settings with beefier face fabrics (heavier weight) with increased durability.
Nice video with good contest but wish voice quality is improved without background noise

The Zeta line has been discontinued…
Bro would you say the beta ar is similar to the lt when it comes to breathing?
@abearsmind
7 ай бұрын
All goretex breathes poorly, which is why you need the pitzips. Go for the AR if you want a tougher face fabric, if not LT is the way to go.
please i need your help, can we ski with these jackets. Are the ar and the lt good for skiing?
@abearsmind
Жыл бұрын
The AR and LT versions can be used for skiing if you wear bibs underneath. If you have pants you might want to look at the Rush or Sabre jackets.

Hey im a tree climber by trade and i have been looking for any jacket that can withstand tree work for more than a year or two. Have you heard of arborists/climbers using the SV series with success? Would hate to destroy such an expensive jacket

@@bobdylanlovr69 no man i wish i had solid advice to give now but im still too broke to give it a try myself lmao! I know 2 people (other arborists) that own an arcteryx and they are super happy with it. Both say they imagine you could get similar for cheaper but they havent found it themselves. Im going to pull the trigger soon maybe as a Christmas present to myself this year.

@philorgneopolotin8762 I did actually man! Ended up with Beta AR and love it. Had it almost a year and really like it. I nicked the sleeve rolling under my car (like an idiot with a $500 jacket on) and the customer service wouldn't help other than send me a free goretex patch. My fault so I kinda understand. But wading through blackberries doesn't tear it, sliding against rough bark doesn't tear it. Also you will Need to treat it with the waterproofing spray maybe twice a year if you wash it weekly. I wash it every week and still repels all water. So highly recommend for tree workers, maybe not for mechanics 😩
can i use my alpha sv for skiing???
