I like how he’s playing in a restaurant somewhere.
Playing that riff circa mid 80s in a stadium of screaming fans must have felt godlike

I wish people would stop saying a particular guitarist is “underrated”. Dimartini is not underrated. He’s not overrated either. He got the recognition he deserved. His playing is equal to whatever his net worth is. He’s a millionaire. He got correctly compensated for his talent. If he was any better or wrote better music, he would’ve gotten paid more. But he didn’t. I think being a millionaire, playing the music he liked, and never having to work a regular job is pretty successful, don’t you?

Back in the early 80s when I was learning this song and playing it with my band (I was only about 13 or 14 years old... very good for my age at that time, but not as good as this guy!) the version I came up with was not this accurate. I would have crawled over broken glass to have this video back then. People today learning this stuff don't know the struggles we had back then. Good tabs and transcriptions at the music stores were few and far between, and even the best ones had a lot of inaccuracies. I must have listened to this 300 times trying to get it as accurate as I could. People today don't know the struggles we had back then!

I still live in the area. I have no connection to him or the band but I do remember my friends mentioning the band, and their emergence, and LOVING their music. And I DID have at least two of their albums. And I have a few of their songs on my iPhone. LOVE the riffs, especially the ones in this song, "Lack of Communication", "Wanted Man", "You're in Love", among others. You play this VERY well. Congratulations on your attaining your skill level and THANK YOU for putting in all the work to learn this song. I would love to learn this song but my gnarled fingers won't cooperate any longer. Technically, the most accurate cover of the song on KZread. He doesn't miss one single note, and his guitar setup sounds exactly the way Warren's setup sounded. The best on KZread!
@guitarizt68

It's certainly a great rendition, but I wouldn't consider it anywhere close to being "technically, the most accurate". He did, indeed, miss parts and also added things which are a byproduct of phantom sounds. Additionally, at times, his rhythm was off. Great? Yes. Technically sound? Nope.

You can rework it without the A string - the drop-D fills in that space most of the time. If you pedal the low D consistently, the A string notes (D and E) aren't really missed ... not saying it's legit but it can get you 90% of the way there which should be enough to impress your friends :-)

Thank you for the video!!! You nailed it!
simply amazing. great job SATSUMA, but what he also does here, is demonstrate clearly that Warren DiMartini was one of the coolest rhythm players in LA and one of the most dynamic lead players to come out of the 80's. this entire style and tone was what Ed Van Halen, DiMartini and Jake E. Lee were all about. those three players define 80's metal for me, and it's fucking amazing to see someone like SATSUMA play this kind of rock as well as they did!
Wow! Nailed it, super clean solo!!!
Love your tone!
Man You Hit That Right On!!
Wow, that's trippy hearing that coming out of Eddie's Guitar 🎸 lol. Damn you killed it bro.. Kudos
I imagine there is an older gentleman and his wife sitting at their table patiently waiting for their order to be taken. They give each other confused looks as they sit there watching our talented friend lay down some tasty licks. The husband starts to get agitated as he notices his wife starts to tap her foot and sway her head to the music. Our guitar hero plays on totally lost in the moment.
