As someone who did verbatim hearing recording (similar to court recording, but not as big since it's for disability cases, not criminal/civil) YES, we have to be emotionless to all the cases. Even the intense and upsetting ones. I only ever had two cases that hit me hard but I managed to take that emotion to when I was done and alone to process it. I was well liked by the judges and most lawyers (since some of them are just all business and no friends) and I was friendly with them, but quickly found that one good way to survive the job was to have a good (sometimes dark) sense of humor that you can have outside the cases. It made my day when early on in the job I made one of the judges laugh with one of my jokes. Did that job for 4 years then moved on to my acting career.

I want to use 'my duck has a sinus infection' as an excuse one day.

The horse story...sad but I cackled because the way he said horse sounded too much like whores 🤣 "ripped the poor whores face to shreds, the little boy saved up by selling chickens to pay for half the whores" 😂😂😂
