They lost their Grammys (and careers) when they were in concert and the CD started skipping, revealing they’d been lip syncing not only in concert, but never sang or contributed on their album(s) either. I would have totally missed the reference had Sam not included the short clip.

Danny should write a script comparing US vs UK fines\ prison terms for comparable crimes with examples of stories of insider trading, ponzi schemes and bringing contraband into the country (I'm looking at you kinder joy)

Somehow youtube is relating Business Blaze with some business channels' videos on the sidebar. Amazing!

In U.S., the "Miranda Rights" read aloud to individuals being arrested resulted from a handwritten lawsuit filed by a prisoner. It went all the way to the Supreme Court. There's a TV movie on it called "Gideon's Trumpet," (I think.) It starred Henry ("Hank") Fonda.

Germany was odd in the 1990ies, too. Steal an item, maybe by threatening someone, or by using force, and the punishment will go up to five or even ten years. Hurt a person, and you'll get away with a fine. When I attended an academy for public management, a lecturer told the story of a case, where the perpetrator ambushed a camping couple, took some of their possessions and abused the woman. The judge punished the criminal to five additional years in prison *for the theft of the tent*, on purpose, because the punishment for the other crime was ridiculously short. By now the regulations have changed, taking personal harmings more serious.

Simon, as someone who has actually been to prison before, I can tell you the answer to both of your assumptions is yes. I was chilling and cracking jokes with convicted murderers and psychopathic gang enforcers who knew exactly which fingers to cut off and which one to leave to prevent someone from bleeding out. But none of us liked the sex offenders and rock spiders. They were kept very separate, for their own safety.
