  • @brupibo

    @brupibo

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you, Justin! Unfortunately no. But if you press the empty pad of the instrument, you go straight to the instrument, but if the pad is not empty, you will launch the clip too. To change instrument and start recording a clip quickly, double tap in an empty pad. That might be faster than switching through shift. In some cases, I map the knobs to the arm button on the tracks, so I don't need to navigate using the arrows. That way, the arm is also locked, so you can freely launch other clips without changing instruments. I might do a tutorial about that sometime.

    Thank you! The pitchbend always "comeback" to the center. You can move it from the center to bottom and from the center to up. When you release the strip, it will always go back to center. Modulation starts from 0 on bottom to 127 (max) on top. This one doesn't goes back when you release. Every time you touch it, its updated and keeps that way. If you have anything specific you want to do and are not being able too, feel free to ask here!

    @@brupibo That's very nice of you! I'm not sure what I'm stuck on, but I'm sure it's something obvious that I just don't know about, yet. Is there a specific ableton instrument/sound the pitch and mod bends work with? Or do I have to activate them or map them to something? Because even when mapping I get no input from them and I just got this thing new. Sorry for being so vague about this :D

  • @brupibo

    @brupibo

    3 жыл бұрын

    This is not right. It should work. Any instrument should be affected by pitch bend. Modulation usually is assigned to Tremolo/Vibrato or volume for most instruments. You shouldn't need to assign anything. Could it be a faulty device? That would be my guess.

    Well, idk exactly what it can be, might be related to configuration or audio buffer. I made a video about the settings issues: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eWGM0NCOoZinZps.html If you don't have any of these problems, do some research about audio buffer size, input latency and ASIO4All (this one is only if you do not have an audio interface) I can't be more specific here because it is too much to write, but through these keywords you'll find your answer. Basically your issues might be low audio buffer, but if you increase it too much you'll get latency. The more plugins, the more buffer you need.

    Help me understand how record quantization works. And what should I set it to? Also, my looping never seems to be a perfect loop but has some gap in the end. Why is that?

  • @brupibo

    @brupibo

    4 жыл бұрын

    Record quantization applies the quantization as soon as you end your loop. About the gap: Use metronome to record. Press the pad (or rec) in you launchkey before the end of the measure. Every loop ends in the end of the measure, so, the loop won't close as soon as you hit the button. Recommended quantization: To start, try to use Eight quantization (1/8) and play in that rhythm. Don't make strums or fast passages, that way you practice to play faster with precision and learn how the quantization works.

    Check if the clips are all stopped. There's a small square on the bottom of the session clip list. Click there and start again. It should work. I see you asked a couple of days ago, sorry, I was away.

    How can you combine recording real instruments into ableton. I mainly play guitar but I’ve been trying to round out my sound for gigs. I’ve got a launchkey mini mk3. Would I need a loop pedal as well?

  • @brupibo

    @brupibo

    3 жыл бұрын

    Launchkey Mini MK3 doesn't activate audio tracks automatically, but you can workaround it: in Launchkey, set the pads to Session Mode and assign the lower row of pads to the arm track buttons in Ableton. That way, when you hit the pad it will start to record the clip in the track, even if it is an audio track. That way, you can use audio and MIDI loops together. I didn't had time to test if it is possible to navigate through other clip rows, but the 1st row I tested and you can use it the same way for audio and virtual instruments.

  • @brupibo

    @brupibo

    3 жыл бұрын

    My previous answer didn't considered you wouldn't be able to stop clips. So, I suggest you to use knobs to arm the tracks, instead the lower row of pads. Knobs can arm tracks when above 50%. Not ideal, but it is a workaround.

    Hi! Unfortunately no. Only keys supports Arp in Launchkey (natively). But if you're using it in a DAW, you can use a MIDI arpeggiator (I know it is not the same thing, but it is the only workaround I know).

    This video is an overview of the basics. I'd say if you need more basic than this, take a look at the manual (you can find a pdf user guide in Novation's site), it is very straightforward. Also I have a tutorials playlist on my channel, there you will find some fixes for common problems that Launchkey have when you get it. I recommend you watch it too, because some crashes in Ableton happens due to simple configuration. Thank you for watching!

    Hello! Pay attention if you are stopping the loop before the ending of the bar. Tap the pad (or the rec button) before the end of the last bar you're recording, because if you tap too late, it will add 1 bar to the counting. Don't worry tapping early on the bar, because it will stop recording only when the bar finishes.

  • @brupibo

    @brupibo

    4 жыл бұрын

    If you are in session mode, keep practing counting tempos. Let's say you are going to loop 2 bars. Set the metronome to 1 bar countdown before starts rec. Then you start recording: 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 (here you can already press the pad to stop recording, cause it will keep recording until it finishes that measure/bar/compass). Also, check if global quantization is set in 1 bar. The space after the loop is probably because you're trying to stop the loop too late.

  • @brupibo

    @brupibo

    IMHO, looping is like a puzzle. A clip loop is a piece. What makes it fun is to reuse each one cleverly. It is not a rule, of course, but it is what I like in loops. But the next step after having a seamless loop is to have about 4 good loops and manage them. Like, you start with loop 1, record loop 2 and 3, then, when you finish recording loop 4, you disable 3 and 4, makes an improvisation, then reactivate 3 and 4 and improvise again. This is what will give dynamic to the song. Again, don't take what I say here as the ultimate truth, it is only some steps that will help you to get hang of the technical part, then you can be creative and use it anyway you want. There's no limits to looping. I hope I could be clear. It is a big text huh? Haha, maybe I should make a video with all these info xD If you didn't saw yet, check my Ableton Live Loop playlist for some ideas. Thank you for watching!
