Laughter is Medicine | Anjelah Johnson | TEDxUniversityofNevada

Anjelah Johnson shares with us some of her stories and jokes from her one hour special, Mahalo & Goodnight. From getting an awkward massage to her struggles walking in high heels, Anjelah brought the funny and reminded us that laughter is medicine.
Anjelah Johnson was born and raised in San Jose, California and is of Mexican and Native American descent. She became an internet sensation with her viral video, “Nail Salon” which led to many stand up, television and film opportunities. That same year she joined the cast of, “MADtv” as a series regular, which spawned another internet sensation, “Bon Qui Qui.” This original character, a disgruntled fast food employee with no filter, has been enjoyed, viewed and replicated by over 65 million people worldwide. After recording and releasing 3 songs and 2 music videos as Bon Qui Qui, Anjelah signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records to release a full album titled, “Gold Plated Dreams”. Anjelah resides in Los Angeles with her husband and continues to act and tour the country with her sold out comedy shows.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I saw her in our local Indian Casino. She opened for JoKoy and really enjoyed her. Too bad that JoKoy decided to double down on cussing. That turned me off that the next time he came to town, we decided not to go as the jokes were rerun of what he already said ( like the Netflix show) and also the cussing. Not again.

Would love to see her live.

You do such a great job imitating the nail salon jive! I have had to hold my laughter a few times in confusion trying to decipher that type of learned English. God bless them, they work hard, learn the language and do a nice job! Can you imagine trying to adapt to their native languages (there are SO MANY dialects)? Such a difficult communication barrier to hurdle.
