It's so nice to see people appreciating our capital, the way you do. And trust me, even if you do such a little thing as order in Latvian, it really warms our hearts, cuz maintaining a little language is not easy and seeing tourists try to speak it (sadly often more than local russians) we are very happy. Looking forward to next vlogs from Latvia! Paldies!

Riga is amazing, but I'd say it's not the Oldtown it's rather the Art Novo buildings that are 100 years old that really make the city stand out. Vilnius Oldtown is massive with palaces and churches everywhere and Tallinn has the most authentic medieval feel to it.

As a Latvian, watching others travel to Latvia makes me very happy! Thanks for visiting and liking our country, I, personally also think that Latvia is REALLY UNDERRATED. Especially at Riga. I just don't know why I love my living place and some places in Riga so much. It's only for me that it's absolutely infinitely nostalgic.
Just got back from Riga. What a beautiful city! Watching your video makes me want to go back.

The "harp" at the Swedish Gate is actually an ancient national string instrument called "kokle". Thank you for the amazing video!
@Crimson19977

Yeah kokle originated from Latvia right? Like long long time ago. I don’t know if it’s accurate or not, but at least, that’s what I heard.
Been to Riga seven times since 2011. Always a minimum of a week. And will come back. Beautiful city, lovely people.
The string instrument in the gateway is called "kokle" and it's one of our national instruments. Basically, a hollow wooden body with strings attached to the top - similar principle to the harp. A lot of European countries have their own national variations of these kinds of instruments.
Once again another country on my travel list. Thank you! Love from Dumfries and Galloway! 🏴🇱🇻
In 2019 we went to Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius and they are all running together in my mind. I will have to go back to my photos and take a look. I do know we enjoyed that trip.

The brow color comes from the iron content, as most of the water goes through moors where it picks up oxidated iron, ie. rust. 5000 years ago they were as brown as now, so it is not due to contamination.
I love watching videos about my home town because it always reminds me how beautiful it is, some times you just get used to places that you see everyday. So that you very much for this video ❤️
I’m currently travelling in Riga, so I just came across your channel. Your style of travel vlogging is excellent and reminds me a lot of Kara and Nate’s old videos!
Unique video from Riga. Like the paddleboarding part around the old town.
This was beautiful! Felt like I was touring with you guys. Your videos are so calm and relaxing, can't tell you how much I enjoy them. I am bulgarian and after I watched you tour Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo, it was like I somehow rediscovered those places, even though I've been there so many times. Oh, and btw, this was actualy the second time you tried halva. The first time was in Veliko Tarnovo in that turkish coffee place, just a different kind maybe. Much love from Bulgaria!
Thank You. It's is just so nice to see such nice people visiting our capital. I myself live in the new part of the city over the river.

@Keep Going Places , I found your channel some days ago, watched many of your videos and I can say that your videos are very good and relaxing to see them, so keep it up. Nice to see you in Europe. As I am an European from Slovenia and have traveled to nearly all European countries, here are maybe some tips of places for you that can maybe help you (as you haven't visited them yet on your videos and I have visited them): Belgium: Brugge (Bruges) is maybe the most amazing historic town in Europe, amazing place (Venice of the North) with boat rides on canals. Antwerpen surprised me with Rubenshuis and some charming Dutch alleys in the old town. Till early September, it is amazing exhibition Dinos in the Sand on the Belgian Coast in Middelkerke (reachable with tram from Oostende, situated near De Greefplein tram station). Ghent has maybe the most spectacular castle of Gravensteen and Graslei around canal is very picturesque, also street with St. Nicholas Church and City Tower, as in St. Bavo Church is a masterpice of the Ghent Altair. Belgian railway system is one of the best in the world, with possibility to buy package of 10 rides for 87 €. Finland: Rovaniemi is a place to visit in winter. There are Santa Claus Village, Santa Park (in both you can meet with Santa Claus and talk to him) and many possibilities to enjoy Arctic winter - snowmobiling, reindeer and husky sleigh ride, snowshoeing, possibility to see Northern Lights at night if skies are clear ... France: Alsace is amazing, with unbelievably charming historic towns Strasbourg, Colmar and Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Kaysersberg on the Alsatian Wine Route. These towns are even more colourful and half-timbered than German Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Christmas is the time when they light the most. Brittany's Dinan and Fougères and Normandy's Honfleur are extremely beautiful and charming towns, such as chalk cliffs in Étretat (Falaise d'Aval). Italy: Dolomites are out of this world. Until the winter comes, it is a possibility to ride some amazing passes with great views, such as Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, Passo Pordoi, Passo Falzarego (with cable car to Lagazuoi) and Tre Cime di Lavaredo (legendary three peaks). Cortina d'Ampezzo can be very charming in winter. Ravenna is full of amazing historic mosaics. Slovenia: Postojna Cave is amazing with many cave structures and train ride. If you like Lord of the Rings and Moria chapter, try Škocjan Caves with amazing cave canyon. In the end of October, there are amazing yellow and golden larches on the path from Vršič Pass to Slemenova špica (1 hour walk) and Konjščica Pasture in Pokljuka (1 hour walk from the biathlon stadium in Pokljuka- Rudno Polje). Vogel Ski Resort above Lake Bohinj is very picturesque in winter when it is much snow there. Near Maribor, the second largest town in Slovenia, it is heart among vineyards in Špičnik, especially very picturesque in autumn when vine is yellow. In Brežice Castle is the Knight's Hall, one of the best examples of baroque secular paintings anywhere - in summer, a visit to Terme Čatež (thermal summer park) can add to amazing experience there. Poland: Gdansk is maybe the most beautiful Hanseatic town anywhere. Austria: Salzkammergut Lake Region (with Hallstatt, Sankt Wolfgang im Salzkammergut and Bad Ischl especially) is the region to visit in the middle of October when there are amazing autumn leaf colours and not so much tourists as in summer. From Sankt Wolfgang, there is a train ride to the Schafberg Mountain where 4-5 lakes can be seen from the above. Werfen, around 40 kms from Salzburg, is known for the Eisriesenwelt Ice Cave (icy also in summer) and amazing Hohenwerfen Castle where you can also see the Birds of Prey Show. Krimml Waterfalls are interesting experience as you can hike 400 metres up around the falls, there are rainbows of the top of them if it is sunny and falls themselves are very spectacular. Krimml Waterfalls are also not far away from Kitzbühel, the famous ski resort where the world-known downhill on Streif is taking place every year in the calendar of the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup. Bosnia and Herzegovina: Mostar is a very charming town, literally the bridge between Western world and Orient. San Marino: Its capital San Marino is maybe the most beautiful Italian hill town anywhere. Slovakia: High Tatra Mountains are very charming, especially in Tatranska Lomnica where there is a cable car to Lomnicky Štit. Čičmany is a very unique little village, this type of village can't be found anywhere else. Romania: Corvin Castle of Hunedoara is spectacular, also Peleş and Pelişor Castle in Sinaia (in the middle of Carpathian Mountains). It is also nice story of Dracula with his amazing birthplace in the medieval Sighişoara. In Bran Castle, for some known as Dracula Castle, he never lived but is also a very nice medieval castle with interesting scary shops and town, good to be visited in the time around Halloween. Greece: I saw you visited Athens and Santorini, but there are also some nice places in Meteora (amazing monasteries on the top of the rocks), Mykonos Island (Little Venice), Epidavros Theatre in Peloponnese ... + maybe Trenčin and Bojnice Castle in Slovakia, Europa-Park and Schwarzwald's Schiltach, Gutach (open air museum), Triberg (cuckoo clock museum), Titisee-Neustadt, Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany, Cinque Terre and Porto Venere in Italy, Sintra (Pena Palace), Obidos and Aveiro-Costa Nova in Portugal, Mont-Saint-Michel (Normandy-Brittany) in France, Rovinj and Pula in Croatia ... Also heard of Berat and Gjirokaster in Albania. Many amazing places in Europe for sure. I hope that this can help you for some of your future videos.
Love seeing my own country's capital from tourist's point if view. For people that might want to visit our country I would suggest to go out of the capital city (if your time allows). Buses are cheap here and the country is small enough to make a day trip and still have plenty of time for sightseeing. Another thing, if you have a possibility to stay with local country people, you wouldn't want to miss visiting our country in a timeframe form the end of the summer till early autumn and have a real culture experience with picking up mushrooms or cranberries or blueberries. It's a huge deal for Latvians and some even keep their mushroom picking places as top secret. Or if you're visiting in spring there is short period of time when we get juices from trees. But that timeframe is very hard to predict. So to anyone who is into ecological lifestyle, Latvia would be a dream country to travel to and maybe move in to 😊

Thank you so much for reaching out! 😊 We are doing well and have another Latvia video posting in the morning. Enjoy your trip to Europe!!
Halva is like a brittle, yet sticky, type of brick, has a texture of peanut butter in mouth after it mixes with saliva, but starts off as a cotton candy slightly, because it is made mainly from sunflower seeds or sesame, mixed with oil, peanuts, and caramel mass. Textures can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Halva is common in Europe and especially middle East. If you would fly to Turkey, it is different there, as well as cheaper, all sweets in Turkey are cheaper, because it is almost like their national treat, like baklava, my favorite. Here it is expensive. The one you bought might've been the one I got from Turkey recently, in small cubes, and texture is like cotton candy later, but firstly it is slightly dry-ish, but soft, kind of flaky texture, but with saliva it turns into cotton candy type of feel in mouth and melts.
Its always interesting to see tourist view of my country /city! Rigas central market is gold and a scary place at the same time, if you find the right sellers you can get sooo good deals! And also Halva is hit or miss to people, either you love it or hate it, it's by preference

Hello from Latvia! Lovely video
Awesome!
As a guy from Baltics,I must stay you guys enjoyed Riga so well,I think it has been developed beautifully. I think Riga is as beautiful as Vilnius. Back in the days when I have visited it was stunning already, but now even got better and better.Yes chalva I like too,but it is that airy sandy calorie densed food. It is delicious though and mostly darker one is with peanuts or sunflower seeds or sesame seeds. There are so many different varieties,I do agree Baltics are underrated.Anyone who comes to Klaipeda or Lithuania or Baltics I can try to show around.Hopefully next month can come back to Lithuania, but longing to visit Usa.Definitely will come there, hopefully this year in some way. You guys becoming like citizens of Baltics, well done.Riga is one of kind cities,so please enjoy it to the fullest. Not sure where are you guys but yes enjoy the best there as well, hope to look other 2 videos from Latvia. They should organize tours from USA to Latvia or Lithuania.Hope all is well
The boy that shouted 'BLET' at 18:30 just shouted the F word. That made me giggle so much
Halva is a mixture of grinded seeds. It’s very weird and fattening but delicious nonetheless. Water in the canal - definitely a big nope. 😄 It’s nasty. But the river itself is kinda ok. The color doesn’t really change no matter where you are here, because it has mostly to do with the soil.
Very nice sharing dear friend ❤️🥰
looks like the weather in latvia is cool..
You should try the darker halva next time. you probably like peanut butter, it is made from peanuts, but is sweet, without the salt in it, I adore it. By the looks of it you picked some that are made from sunflower seeds or sesame seeds, they are good, too, but the peanut one is pure heaven. (I live in Riga). I am glad you loved my city 🤩

Actually there is fun story about that cat house, you saw in old town. You should check that in tourist guides. Also here are roosters at many church towers in Rīga. Meaning of Wich comes from or ancient pagan traditions.
Like from me 👍 and greetings from Latvia thanks for nice video!
It takes time to get to know the country of Latvia. Have seen a lot in 40 years. Although a small country. Very different ancient Latvian families that have survived for centuries before the Viking era. And beautiful nature in Latvia. When traveling by motorcycle or car and other vehicles. Very labyrinthine roads in Latvia and many historical places of ancient times. 😎 👍 #raits_haberkorns_hots_videophotographs
