If u must use a secondary chuck then mount it on a shaft and backing plate then grip this shaft with primary chuck . THE REASON is a secondary chuck is gripped only by small jaw contact from primary chuck and the work held in second chuck becomes a lever as the tool is fed into work therefore weKening the grip of primary chuck on secondary chuck .The first u will know Bout it is when the secondary chuck and work is flyiing thru the air like a missile .You have been warned of potentially very dangerous situation . MOUNT THE SECOND CHUCK ON A RIGID ADAPTER SYSTEM THEN GRIP THAT WITH THE FIRST CHUCK .my reaon is simple .The first chuck has a shaft to grip on and if it loosens it has to walk out of first chuck a long way to be dislodged .depending on the length of mounting shaft this is your safety margin if the second chuck begins to walk out of first chuck .

Great way to lose a finger 😮

Ой зря палец в шатун засунул на вращающемся патроне! Нарушение техники безопасности! А вдруг задир, стружка из смазочного отверстия случайная, оторвёт ведь!! Oh, I shouldn't have stuck my finger in the connecting rod on a rotating cartridge! Violation of safety regulations! And suddenly the bully, the shavings from the lubrication hole are accidental, they will tear off after all!!

When u piggy back a chuck the sdcond chuck can be diodged by many things including chattering tools or a tool digs into work causing thd second chuck to be a heavy missile thrown out of lathe . .BEWARE OF THIS RISK .
