Late May Sambar backpack hunt: PART 1

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

4 day Sambar backpack trip we did into the Victorian high country in May 2021.
On this hunt we seen over 20 deer and had some cool encounters up close with the Sambar deer.
Using a Nikon p900 and Sony cybershot to record my hunt.
We spent 4 nights along the river flats and pushed up high glassing some awesome country.
This hunt is filmed in 2 parts so if you enjoy this one be sure to watch the next part.

Hi mate nice country one of my favourite time to hunt May June no luck locating stag! You put work in hinds and spikers mature stag can't be to far maybe open face is to open for mature stags to always be there I believe they can tolerate cold temperatures no need for them to have full sun? 90%of big stags I've seen and shot have being close to gullies and creeks never to far from good cover. Thanks for sharing rosco

Yeah you’re not wrong I think this time of year is the best to hunt. Yeah I don’t think the big mature stags would hang out in that open area but played the % which was where the hinds were.

Fair effort there from both of you, 26 is killer. I went in weekend just gone had 24 on board was super hard work. Re packed when I got back home got it down to 19.5kgs for the next trip. I’m pretty fresh to hunting out of a pack. When is part 2 out? Looking forward to it.

@@aaronwiesniewski9955 that’s all part of the fun. Learning what worked and what didn’t, how you can lighten your pack and so on. Hopefully next week part 2 will be out
