Last Stand of the UH-1 Huey

Ойын-сауық

This is Aviation Company, 1st Support Battalion, Sinai, Egypt 2003-2005, as a part of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO). This was one of the last active Army units to fly the Huey, as the following year, to the dismay of many, it was replaced with the Black Hawk. The Black Hawk is a fine helicopter, but not nearly as rugged and maintainable as the iconic UH-1. These are the soldiers of AV Co, as they flew on some of the last of the active Hueys.

I was with these guys at El Gorah from August to December 2003. I recognized one on the video. I had the pleasure of flying on one of these helicopters piloted by CW4 Robert Wagner. Unforgettable memories !!!

I flew the Twin Huey in 1987 and 1989 at El Gorah. At that time, the Canadians had eight CH135 in Sinai with the MFO.

I was a Dustoff Medic with the 101st Aviation Company Forward, Task Force 3/327, 11th iteration. I have a great video of Teddy Kennedy ruining a $2,000 suit crawling onto the deck of one of those Huey''s.

@@ChopperDoc181 My company CO was Maj Paul J. Pazorski, 1st Sgt. Farell (Spelled phonetically, sorry). I actually called CNN back in the 80's and they didn't want anything to do with it. I'll give you a tap if I ever get it uploaded. I have a stack of tapes that I had converted to DVD's of our iteration, I had one of the 1st Omnimovie VHS camcorders out there.
