Last Session EVER at the park! Closing because of rent increase of 135% imposed by the landlords.

The Park is closing down and we had to all head down for a final session. This was the best indoor skatepark in Australia and it is so sad to see it go.
Hopefully someone buys the ramps and puts them somewhere cool so they can be ridden again.
Message from THE PARK - Management: It's time to get in for one last ride as this will be our last week of trading, our doors will close forever at 4pm Sunday .
Despite having a buyer for The Park locked in, negotiations between the purchaser & landlords over the past few weeks have ultimately failed due to a rent increase of 135% imposed by the landlords, a figure that well exceeds a recent independent & professional market value assessment.
From next Monday, we begin the massive task of pulling down our ramps & clearing out the skatepark before Nov 30 and we need your help!
SO many of our riders & customers have already offered to help with this. We now need to call in our army of volunteers. Sparky's & plumbers may also be needed.
Please text your details & availability for next week to The Park so we can co-ordinate demolition (no DM's) All reasonable offers to purchase the Vert, Mega & Mini Ramp's will be accepted.

Insane. 135%. I own a garage door business and I can't even charge $20 more on a $500 opener that last 10-15 years. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

The rental crisis is hitting hard all over the country residential and commercial. Making it harder and harder to run a business.
Always a shame when a park closes, but especially one of that magnitude. Hopefully those ramps find new life somewhere else!

135% should be illegal, that's absolutely insane. Sending you my prayers and wishes from across the pond in America. Hope you guys over there can work something out and rebuild a new park.

I know, especially after 10 years of loyalty paying the rent on time each month! Hopefully someone buys the ramps and makes a new skatepark.

Grew up in Geelong but never got to visit this place, sadly I never will. Landlords should be ashamed. Pure greed. Surely empty warehouse space in Geelong is not in such high demand with industry closing down?

Will have to wait and see. It’s not a residential area either so they probably can’t build townhouses or anything like that.
