I walked into a tiny bar with a buddy in Wickenburg, AZ and Randy was in the 3rd inning. We ate and had a couple drinks and it was the 6th inning and Randy was still perfect. I told my buddy we weren't going anywhere. As we watched I realized that when Randy was pitching I had been standing beside our tall bar table and I was holding the table with my left thumb and forefinger. So any time Randy came back out to the mound I got in position as well. I hope Randy appreciates how much I helped him get that perfect game that day.

It’s crazy how rare perfect games are, yet there were 2 within 3 weeks of eachother in 2010 and three in the 2012 season. They seemed so common for a short period, and then, they vanished. None in the last decade since Felix did it. And as a Mariners fan who grew up with the King as his favorite player, I can say I am proud for him to have held the distinction as the last Perfect pitcher for this long. One of the few Mariners brags I can make.

This just goes to show how many things have to go right for someone to throw a perfect game. These guys aren't all HOF pitchers. Couple of 'em I've never even heard of except for this. Think of how many great, great pitchers never threw a perfect game. Nolan Ryan. 7 no-hitters, none perfect. Obviously it's a major achievement for a pitcher, but it really has to be the whole team firing on all cylinders. No errors, no fielder's choice, nothing. It's a defensive win for the whole team, really. Not to mention luck. I mean, no bloop singles, no one goes yard, no little roller that the third baseman can't reach in time.... It's pretty remarkable, and it isn't just the greatest pitchers in the game that get one. I kinda like that.

Gallaraga definitely an obvious omission by MLB, but let’s not forget Pedro Martinez who pitched 9 perfect innings, but lost the perfect game in the 10th since his team couldn’t score a run for him. Ended winning the game in the 10th. And of course there’s Harvey Haddix who pitched TWELVE perfect innings, that’s 33% more than anyone in this video and it still wasn’t official since he ended up losing the game in the 13th. Come on MLB, let’s think of another category to recognize these incredible achievements that end up as scrap on the editing floor since by your too strict definition, because they were not “perfect”

One of those that had no video was Jim Catfish Hunter's perfect game for the Oakland A's vs the Twins in 1968. My parents were going to the drive ins that night and were listening to it on the radio. When they got to the drive ins they listened to the last couple innings while the movie played before putting the speaker on their window in the car.

@@brandondillman5841 I saw the Jays in action on Wednesday. It's going to be a week this Wednesday since the game in Philadelphia. The game went into extra innings and the Jays were held scoreless while the Phils rallied and plated Mondo (Bryce Harper) on a throwing error at the plate to walk the game off 2-1. I was there to see the game when the Phils beat the Jays. It was my second time to Citizens Bank Park. I even created a replica home uniform to wear to the game and replaced my worn out cap at the game. My dinner, eaten at the game, was a cheesesteak with fried onions and a side of French Fries. Back in the 90's I was visiting a friend who lived south of Boston. He took me to my first game in Fenway Park. Later, after we moved to Washington state he and his wife came out for a visit. The Mariner's weren't doing well and it was a 3 hour drive north to Seattle for a game. I laughingly told him that I would take him to a Mariner game to repay him for taking me to see the Red Sox. He laughed and kidded me about the unequal trade but then he said that he hadn't been to a game in Seattle. I got tickets and we went on a lark since I was not a Mariner fan nor was he. Fate intervened and we saw the perfect game pitched by Felix Hernandez on August 15, 2012. The trip was a fluke but we both got a thrill out of being there to see it since we were longtime baseball players.

In 1999 I had already graduated college and was working so I had money that year to buy my dad and I two seats to the Sunday home game package. Sunday July 18, 1999 was my 22nd birthday, and at the stadium it was Yogi Berra day. The first pitch was thrown by Don Larsen and caught by Berra. Larsen shook Cone’s hand afterwards. I’ve been to World Series games and other playoff games, but never - not before or since - have I felt the same excitement as I did watching that last out. Fans were hugging and high fiving. It felt like hours before the cheering subsided. Dad has since had a stroke and I’m not sure he even recognizes me anymore. Thanks for this video. Brought a tear to my eye.

Angels and Rangers threw perfectos at each other 10 years apart, both in Texas. 1984 in old Arlington Stadium (Mike Witt) and 1994 in Rangers Ballpark (Kenny Rogers), the inaugural season for that field. Rogers' Perfect game featured a game-saving diving catch in center field by Rusty Greer in the top of the 9th.

Everyone, even though they were die-hard Phillies fans, asked to change the channel to MLB network to watch the last 3 outs. We immediately were treated to Jackson’s amazing catch and everyone was hooked! When we saw the replay of the play, we were absolutely FURIOUS!!!
