The last built/produced F-22 Raptor right here (AK 4195). Footage I recorded at the California Capital Air Show back in September 2014 that I never uploaded at the time, unlike the video in the link. Pilot: John “Taboo” Cummings. ENJOY!

F-15 has been my favorite aircraft since I was just a little kid, and also one of my dad's favorite airframes to work on, but the F-22 certainly has to be the most beautiful-looking fighter in existence (obviously just my opinion). That front profile is as just so aggressive and imposing, and the rear view looks like something out of a science-fiction movie!

F-22 is my favorite fighter jet 😍
You can see the work and materials that went into this. Then you realize that if we restarted the project we could make it better. The 6th generation fighter aircraft hopefully can be a worthy successor to the F-22. Something you can look at today and say "this is one of the most advanced things on the planet" with it just sitting still on a run way.

This particular plane may be the most lethal air to air fighter even among the f-22s because of the last production usually the most advanced. Better coatings, better radar, and i've heard that the last block of f-22 (block 40 like this aircraft) can be equipped with cheek array radars and IRST upgrade if the air force demand it
@mksguptag

Looks great !!
@EstorilEm
2 жыл бұрын
Not really, you can't line-assemble aircraft and have them all different. There were many changes but they were introduced in chunks and not frame-by-frame. In some cases older aircraft are upgraded BEFORE production ones because the upgrade program starts before the line is modified. I think they already have side-looking AESA but it's widely thought that they'll never really get IRST. I was given a walk-around by one of the demo pilots and did see some interesting stuff that he couldn't talk about. I think it likely has some defensive IR capabilities but without a big/integrated system like EOTS on the F-35, it's just not possible.
@ihsanjayadi88
2 жыл бұрын
@@EstorilEm I do know that aircraft assembly isn't like custom car coachbuilding, what I'm implying is this is the last block of F-22 hence has the most refinement and potential. I think I saw a chart about F-22 somewhere regarding what upgrades each block has compared to the previous block including cheek array that I mentioned that was unavailable in early block. I'm NOT referring to frame by frame upgrade. Regarding IRST, I've been told that there is a potential of an infrared system using the defensive IR cameras around the body similar to F-35's DAS, not its EOTS.
@EstorilEm
2 жыл бұрын
@@ihsanjayadi88 That's the thing I'm trying to say - the block upgrades didn't necessarily have anything to do with the production date, some of the very first TEST aircraft were upgraded to the latest block updates sooner than ones coming off the assembly line. They didn't "smooth the paint" or "fix this seam" etc... they were built in line-assembly almost identically, and almost ALL of the upgrades were performed after they were built, as production stopped so prematurely. And no about infrared - DAS is built around situational awareness and defensive capabilities with the HUD, EOTS is offensive IRST/FLIR for targeting. The system is large and requires a forward-looking optical capability with great optics, which the F-22 will NEVER have with that giant AESA radar up front. Originally they had proposed an IRST system integrated to the leading edges of the wings, but this was going to be extremely expensive and massively complicated given the movement of the leading-edge surfaces, I think it may have required supplemental cooling as well (possibly via nitrogen, etc) so again - complex and expensive plus additional maintenance. No adversary aircraft is stealthy enough to require it (the SU-57 is a joke, and its' IRST dome kills its frontal RCS to the point where an F-22 can STILL see it and get a shot off before the SU-57 knows its there). I think they made the correct decision NOT to include IRST in the F-22 - it's never been required in any offensive fighter engagement in history that I'm aware of. Even if you could see the aircraft, getting existing weapons systems and missile to lock onto the target is a completely different story. You have zero internal missile guidance still, and zero radar uplink guidance TO the missile from the aircraft. IRST just tells you SOMETHING is there - but in reality you can't do anything about it.
@rbrtck
2 ай бұрын
@lEm The IRST was canceled outright, unfortunately. I believe the argument at the time, aside from cutting cost because the F-22 started to become a pariah after the USSR folded (no more big-bad enemies, right? 🙄), was that even the most advanced IRST (and the F-22's was going to have two large staring arrays in the wing roots, or so I read) wasn't going to enable the F-22 to dominate in BVR. Even the latest IRSTs don't work much beyond visual range at the frontal aspect, so I see their point. I'm not saying that I agree, because there are strong arguments to be made in favor of having an IRST, but the pressure to cut costs to save the program with so few airframes being purchased was intense. Supposedly, a podded IRST is being developed for the F-22 right now, by the way. I'm not sure how they plan to make it stealthy, but that's the idea. This just goes to show how shortsighted the government is, as usual. They tried to kill the F-22 completely, but were stuck with a few of them, and now they're spending big money to upgrade the few they have to hold on until the bigger bucks they're spending will hopefully result in a replacement from the NGAD program. Maybe that fighter will actually be wanted and purchased in sufficient quantities. What they should have done is purchase more F-22s and kept that program going. They should have allowed it to be exported to countries like Japan, Israel, and Australia, who were interested, as well, to help keep production going. It would have cost less in the long run (per-unit cost would have dropped to a fraction of what it ended up being), and resulted in a superior F-22. Instead, they largely threw away their massive investment and now have to make a similarly massive investment to replace the fighter they didn't want but now do. 😬🙄

WOW!!!!!! That start up sounded SICK!!!!!!!!! You heard the POWER on that startup. 2:09.
Sounds like a big cat roaring when it starts. Truly a modern marvel of engineering and technology. It's astonishing what human beings are capable of when money is not an issue. It really drives it home when you look at the P-38 that crossed behind the F22 towards the end of the video. It wasn't _that_ long ago that it was on the cutting edge of technology. Look where we are now, less than 80 years later. Gonna be tough winning the upcoming war if these are used against us. This is the pinnacle of multi-role fighter technology. Just as capable in air-to-ground roles as it is air-to-air... and that's not even taking her recon capabilites into consideration. She's something right out of a sci-fi book/show. We have our work cut out for us, brothers but I'd rather die free than live a life where you spend 55% of your life at work and are still broke. We're all sitting around wondering if we'll ever be able to afford a home and they're spending $80,000 of OUR money to operate this aircraft for ONE HOUR.
Thanks for posting this video!!!
