🔷 ABOUT SAMCRAFT 🔷
Samcraft is a channel all about educating, inspiring, motivating, encouraging, and sharing the things I've learned since starting my own small business in 2018.
Today on Samcraft I test if the Atomstack M4 laser engraver can engrave pure silver. I have a .999 pure silver bullion, a 1 troy ounce of silver, and put it to the test!

Thanks Sam this was really cool! The best part is being able to cut something so small and still be able to read it!
I'm actually surprised how well it engraved on that pattern. Cool.😊
That is soooo cool! The engraving was so quick and looks like it's painted on as it's so dark! Very cool test!
Now laser town has its own currency!!!
blessings to your whole family!
Great job!
Pretty cool, thank you for sharing, stay warm, safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Wow, such amazing ideas. Thank you Sam.

Hi Sam May thanks for this video, I’m a silversmith and jeweller here in the UK and did a load of engraved work by hand, now i Have osteoarthritis in my wrists and fingers and can’t hand engrave, i recently purchased an atomstack for engraving and illustrating on sterling silver - so many thanks for all the information and guidance, i had origanlly thought I had made a mistake but this video and your other have really laid my mind at ease so a BIG thumbs up brother!

Hi, how would you say the engraving holds up over time? I'm looking for a new extra engraver but i'm in doubt over how it will hold up during everyday wear?
Awesome ✨
Sweet!
Thanks for doing a video on this subject, you answered my question perfectly! I wish this laser used Lightburn and had a way to cut on a rotary.

Those would surely make it near perfect! I'm getting more comfortable with SeaCAD, but still prefer Lightburn. :)
Nice job Sam. Looks like your engravings have no limits now. Hope this engraver brings you much more work and income in the near future.

Hi, thanks for the clear video, how would the engraving hold up over time, on a ring for example during everyday wear?
That did really good job so small and can read it.
Can you do bright engrave too?
i'd personally be curious to know how deep the engraving is and how much polishing it'll take before wearing off again
Very interesting, great creative ideas will be, well, created with this. Thank you for sharing and giving your ideas. 💖💖🎶🎶

I like laser town
To engrave on a curved surface, could you mount the item in something to hold it that you could rotate? Engrave part, rotate, engrave, rotate, until done?
Medic alert necklaces 👍😃

Hi Sam. Have you seen the Sand-O-Flex sanders on Amazon? I watch a wood worker who uses them to sand his wooden bowl projects. They go on the end of his drill. Just an idea for you to look at. Love your channels.
Have you tried cutting 18 gage sterling silver? What size engraving machine can do that?
Sam, could you please review hot water tanks? My current system is part of my propane boiler system in my home's unfinished basement. I need to change my whole system because the propane is becoming too expensive. From your experience, could you please tell me about your hot water heaters and what system you have now? Thanks. I need to change the boiler out too, but that’s a complete problem I will deal with after I have the water water heater problem solved and may best be left to a good professional because it is going to be complicated. Thanks, again.
That's cool. you own silver bar.
Sam dose the laser cut into the silver or burn it on, question on other metals do the same ????
Could you engrave the stainless steel slide on a 1911 pistol?...If so, please let me know!
I get closer and closer to buying one of these with each new video! If they were just a hair cheaper, I could justify under hobby rules.

I would agree totally -- cost is a prohibiting factor for these right now. I'm sure costs will adjust with more competitors entering into the 1064nm arena.
Ok... my laser says not to use on reflective materials but you did it on all those different metals. How did you do that??
Hi, which laser is this ? we just want to see how it works on silver and gold ... is M1 the same M4 on metals ?
Wouldn't you be shocked if someone actually send you real gold to engrave!

Hey Sam I do leather work, custom holsters . What type laser might I use to mark leather with?
@Samcraftcom

You’ll want a diode (around the 450nm wave length I think) or CO2 laser for that material.

Any suggestions on the brand I could look into
Great video. Is there anyway to make the engraving white on any of the metals that you have tested?
@Samcraftcom
Жыл бұрын
Not that I have found yet. There are a handful of videos on taking a 1064nm laser and tweaking settings to get some variance of colors, but not white that I have seen yet.

I just watch a different video u need to go over it again with a clean up pass and it will take it back to shine instead of being black
If you wanted to test gold (not saying you should or need to, but if you wanted to) getting some gold leaf should allow you to test. It is very thin and fragile though. Maybe testing something that has been gilded with leaf first, then test? Just ideas. Great test and video! Thanks for sharing

Just get a gram of gold
Amazing
Way over my head, but very interesting 🤔stupid question, can you only engrave flat surfaces? Oops you answered my question lol
👍
Pretty cool, although I have a question on where and how you got that bar ? How much is a bar worth now a days ?

This was a gift from a family member for Christmas. However, you can buy bullion online from several places. Apmex and JM Bullion are ones I've heard good things from.

I'd like to buy that bar and add it to my collection!
Aw, Sam it's not the size of your logo, it's how you use it! 🤣
I love that he's using a 2k+ machine and he's stressing letting us kno this is pure silver a whole 25$ 😅 thanks for showing this works
There's a rumor that is going viral all over the Internet, that you are giving that silver bar to a random (me) subscriber (me).

This is the engraver that can actually engrave in color correct?
@Samcraftcom
Жыл бұрын
I have not tried that yet, and haven't seen others do it with this model. It takes messing with the focus and frequency (from what I've seen in other videos), but that may or may not work with this machine... may be time to test that out!

@@Samcraftcom would be some Great content! Also have you tried using a fiber laser to bore very small holes into anything like neodymium or other rare earth metals by chance?
FFS, its getting more and more difficult not to get one. I don't need one, but I want one to engrave metal stuff
Going to have to buy a fiber laser like the M4, since laserpeckers SUCK ! lol.
@richardstokes7508

If you are looking for a fiber, I would recommend a 50 watt JPT fiber

@@richardstokes7508 I just need something that can engrave on any material known to mankind. :3 would like to see if these can bore a hole through neodymium so I can conduct an experiment I've been wanting to try.

@@ElohimYellow How thick is the material you would like to make the holes? I have a 50w JPT fiber and can cut .2 and .4mm thick aluminum with no issues.

@@richardstokes7508 need a 8mm deep 1 and 1 half mm wide hole for the neodymium magnets I have, so I can attach them to my motor shafts which will be inside a copper coil system attached to a ducted fan and then I'll measure it over time. :3
👍🎅🏻
It doesn’t actually engrave it. Rub it hard enough and it comes off. I know this because I bought this engraver because of this video and I “engraved” silver with it and it came off with rubbing
