Absolutely amazing!!! Every addition just gets more beautiful! What a brilliant idea to tip the glass. It’s so evocative of the hurricane. And the reference to Hokusai’s “The Great Wave Off Kanagawa”! The deep red. The oars under the water. Absolute work of art!

I read the Bounty trilogy years ago and, like you, fell in love with it. This addition to your cocktail library is a fitting representation of “Men Against the Sea”. Perfection!

Another beautiful and informative video! I had no idea the bed for those laser cutters were so enormous. You've done a great job at reducing waste as well. I'm sure those first 3 libations are long gone but will hope to catch volume 4 once it's available! Amazing work as usual.

Thanks for watching! The beds on the cutters can be waaaaay bigger than ours - they have models for full 4x8 sheets! We ended up getting a bigger model than we had planned to, and I’m super glad we did.

You clearly need to make a trip to New Orleans (when it's safe) if you have that much trouble remembering the name Pat O'Brien! lol

😂 - I was so focused on the dates I kept flubbing the name! We had a anniversary trip planned for New Orleans but Covid kinda ruined it 😅. Hope to make it there someday soon - I want to go to Latitude 29!

We do love the laser! We started with a Glowforge and learned a lot from it, but the new one is so fast and well made. I’m hesitant to start a Patreon, as I don’t want to add any more content creation responsibilities to my very full plate 😅

1:57 the jungle bird is not a plain color, it has multiple colors so i wonder how did you do the face? Is the bird a combination of different color acrylics or did you paint the face part..?

Good catch! The beak is made of several colors of acrylic press fit together.

Million dollar question that I can’t find an answer to anywhere in the Ceramic artists world: Is there any pourable (liquid like slip) clay that dries in a flexible mold (latex, silicone) and produces a green ware clay casting? Plaster molds can be too complex to build sometimes and are very limiting to what kind of pieces can be cast because of their rigidity. I want to be able to cast clay replicas of a complex sculpture I’ve done and I want to produce green ware casts. Plaster is the only material I can think of but obviously that can’t be fired in a kiln.

I wish I had an answer! Believe me, if I knew of a way to cast slip/ceramic material into a flexible mold I'd be doing it! :D The main issue is that in order for the slip/clay to firm up for demolding, water needs to be removed from the slip. Plaster does this wonderfully - but silicone is a barrier to any moisture movement. I experimented with getting slip to gel in silicone molds - but it would never fully and evenly dry out enough to remove without damage. That is the tradeoff of slipcasting vs one-of-a-kind handbuilt clay sculpture. You can make hundreds of copies with slipcasting, but your sculpture needs to avoid undercuts, and must be molded with plaster.

Anywhere we can! We get samples from just about anyone in the US offering frosted colors, and order once we find a color that works for a design.
