Parole after 20 years?!? Someone that beats a 5 year old to death should NEVER step foot outside a prison, EVER. She's only crying because she was videotaped and caught. She's not even human, she's a pure MONSTER.

As you say, it’s an entry-level job that doesn’t require any certification, training, or (likely) transportation. Lots of teenagers do it because it’s all there is. I babysat for lots of kids as a teenager and believe me, it wasn’t because I loved being around kids. Using this logic, anyone who works at McDonald’s must really love flipping burgers.

Yep. But that means by your context here that you are no better than her. You are expressing your words in the same way she acted towards the poor boy. It remains in your heart. We are not only what we do but also what we say. All these court videos and the ranting on KZread, everyone is basically these murders. By what they say, murder is an action from the heart. Saying, ohh, I hope you rot in jail and be abused and get killed in jail. Well, you spoke your heart with your words, just realize that these comments are no different as to how these criminals act.

Obviously everyone agrees with the woman who beat the 5 year old. The father should've been sent to prison because that's clearly what the woman said had occurred. Video evidence, especially in this day and age, is almost always faked and edited. 2.5% of the tragedy is his fault and 2.5% of the tragedy is his wife's fault. They should not have hired her, they should not have allowed her to care for their kids the first time around, and they should not have allowed her to come back a second time. How bad do you have to be raising your kids to not believe them when they tell you someone is abusing them then you put the abuser back with them a second go around and you don't monitor the surveillance system during the second event? I blame our society for 5% of this tragedy for not encouraging better Behavior for not encouraging extended family care and for not having a far more punitive penal system. That woman's punishment was only 20 years although she tortured and killed that child and during those 20 years we will babysit her our society will babysit her and then put her back into society again. If our penal system was righteous it beat the living hell out of her daily until she dies regardless of how long it takes. If our society knew that getting beat to death or stone to death or corporal punishment existed there would be less prisoners. Prisoners see prison as time out they are literally the ones being babysat.

If either of our children misbehaves or does not listen to my husband and I, we tell them that they cannot have dessert or a snack, or we cancel a planned trip to the park, the zoo, a restaurant, etc. Then they get very upset and agree to change. My mom left myself, my sister, and my brother with our neighbor, an older lady with children of her own. My mom thought she was a mature and responsible woman. I was about 8, my sister 6 and my brother around 2-3. He was still potty training, so he was prone to accidents. This woman would put my brother on the floor to sleep in a puddle of his own mess. One day when we got home i saw him on the floor in a blanket with pee all over and he looked like he had been crying. I asked the woman and she said he had an accident and wanted to sleep on the ground. I told my mom and she confronted the woman who told her the same thing and that if she didn’t like it she should watch her own kids. Let me get this straight.....the boys sister told the parents just the day or two before that the chick hurt the boy, yet they didn't want to hurt the babysitter feelings by blaming her without proof, but instead installed cameras to get proof. Wtf!! They literally made the biggest mistake ever. I'm sure they didn't mean to, but they basically used their son as a lab rat. Idgaf, if my little daughter told me our babysitter was hurting my son, I give a rats ass about feelings. My kids safety comes before anything. Because kids that young don't lie. They tell what they see with their own 2 eyes. They don't know how to lie. They just tell it how they see it. Idc if I make a mistake, I wouldn't take any chances. I'd have to hire a new baby sitter. Or if I did keep her, I'd confront her, that way she knows that I have a suspicion about her abusive behavior. This way she'd think twice about doing anything. She'd be wondering how I know. She'd be wondering if she was caught on video or something. So even if she was innocent, bringing it up might hurt her feelings for a second but who cares. I'd rather be safe then sorry. Now look at what happened by not saying anything. They literally left their son to get beat to death after being told something foul was going on. They should've asked the boy repeatedly if something happened. Because kids that get treated bad won't want to stay with or be around the abusive person

100% agree. If my child told me their sister or brother was getting hurt by the babysitter I would’ve confronted them IMMEDIATELY rather than setting something up to get proof…. One conversation regarding any harm caused to my child is either ending in someone getting fired, sent to jail (probably on my end for ripping their head off), or heavily communicated that there is now going to be cameras because of what’s been brought to my attention. No disrespect to anyone whatsoever I pray the family heals

The thing I don't get is that if the daughter said the babysitter hurt Ryan, why was he left in her care again? This is not to blame the parents. It's very much a hindsight thing and a lot of times, parents have a hard time believing their kid without physical proof. They've gone through enough hell. But it is to bring awareness to other parents. If your child says a caretaker is hurting them or another child in their care, you do not under any circumstances leave kids in their care and you file a police report. I don't care if you lack proof, trust your kid. Do not try to catch evidence, because it may be the thing that gets your kid killed. Let the cops worry about evidence. You do what you have to to protect your kids. And if able to afford it and your kids are often in the care of a babysitter at your home, put indoor security cameras up. For their safety as much as anything. This shouldn't have happened, the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Lauren Courtney. But this should bring awareness to trust what your kids are saying and don't gamble on their lives with an unknown variable like that. It's not worth it, as I'm sure this family unfortunately found out. And if your kid calls you and says a caretaker is hurting them in real time, call 911 to the house and I don't care if you are at work, leave and go get your kid. May others learn this lesson without experiencing such grief in their lives. It's better safe than sorry.

I understand them not wanting to make accusations without knowing for sure but after hearing that she would not be coming back to my home or anywhere near my children and definitely not left alone with them. If you wanted to catch her they should of been watching live what was happening while nearby so they could intervene and call the police as soon as they got anything to convict her with. Just sad and avoidable. She took away more than one life that day, I hope that family can heal and find the strength to smile again one day.
