When Obama was in office he shut down about 8, refineries supplying the east coast because the west coast was complaining that their prices were higher. This was expected since Obama said in a pre-election speech at a Michigan college that he saw 'nothing wrong with $7, per gallon fuel'. How anyone could get elected with that point of view is beyond me. It takes a lot of time and money, and crude availability, to bring them back online.

Used to get milk at Walmart and Aldi's for $0.98 a gallon. Last paid $3.62. Similar story with eggs. I'm lucky I have a Piggly Wiggly in town that puts out marked down meat. $2.99 for ground round and sirloin. Previously half that. Price of chicken has doubled also.

@@simstar6557 at the Walmarts and Aldi's in Florence Al it was $0.98 a gallon until about 15 months ago. I paid $0.95 at the Aldi's in Corinth Mississippi a few years ago. It was $1.25 a gallon at the Sav-a-Lot in Savannah Tennessee until about 15 months ago. These stores sold milk and eggs below wholesale to attract customers to the store where there was stiff competition. But no more. If you don't believe me call the stores and ask.

Every price hike in diesel fuel and gasoline adds a price hike to groceries, electric bills, and will be a disaster in the fall for heating costs. Good luck America, hard times are here and they are about to get worse.

I am financially supporting the legislators who (SAY) they will reopen the oil spigots and remove the rules imposed by this corrupt administration that block the oil companies from using their leases to pump that oil. I am also advising everyone I talk to to buy and stockpile necessary household items, non perishable food, toiletries, medicine, as much gasoline as they can safely store and anything else that is important to them. If you do not own a home protection weapon buy one, get trained in its use and practice to be become proficient to use it in the protection of your family and neighbors. Children go to school from kindergarten through high school and even college... Then they come out of graduation with less than basic knowledge of math, science, History, social studies, language, economics.... The list goes on and on. Look at where the USA ranks globally on education. Yes there are some bad parents out there. You cannot blame what's going on solely on the parents when they send their child to school everyday for their entire childhood to learn how to think and equally critical is the history of tyrannical governments, our responsibility and duty to not only our own country but the importance of being a positive role model and defending freedom worldwide, and the utmost preservation and respect to our constitution and bill of rights. It sounds like the education system is failing and that's the reason why some parents are misguided as well... Others are awake and do their best to guide their children the proper way. You mentioned content consumption... If you're not aware, it is the content of conservative nobodies like everyday average parents trying to get their message out there that is being censored, shut down, and deemed criminal... While celebrities, influencers, musicians and artists, politicians and even TEACHERS have no boundaries on what they are allowed to put in the minds of children and society as a whole. I know several people who raised their kids right only to have their school brainwashed them and tell them their parents and grandparents are ignorant and their ideas are outdated. The same thing happened to me when I was a kid and was trying to tell my grandpa what I was learning in school. I thought he was losing his mind and didn't remember what really happened. I didn't understand back then why he was so mad... Until I realized what is being taught in school today and what the truth really consists. Don't promote mandatory classes for parents when everyone has been lied to inside of classrooms year after year just for political gain.

I recently retired from a long career as a farmer. We ran two primary field tractors. One had 500 gallon fuel tanks and one had 190 gallon fuel tanks. 700 gallons times $6/gal for diesel is $4,200/per fillup. A couple of times I filled those tanks twice a day. Fertilizer has went up exponentially. Other farm chemicals up as well. I wonder if there will be any inflation in food prices?

Oil companies have to discover oil, drill and extract the oil, transport and refine the oil and transport the product to their customers. Meanwhile, governments sit on their padded chairs and collect taxes at every step of the aforementioned processes, IMO. Who's got it soft, I wonder.

Please consider food banks. Also look online for free things like on Craigslist, Marketplace, etc. Sometimes you can barter. If your income is $880 you may qualify for food stamps. I know this all sounds horribly insulting but this is about survival.

The tax code is so complicated that the IRS no longer answers the phone, returns requests for meetings, can fix mistakes. And the taxpayer, even educated in finance cannot do their own taxes without errors. The CPA's are now so overworked they refuse customers or charge HUGE fees to have your taxes done.

No politician wants to take tough actions to fix this, so it will only spiral deeper. We need to prepare accordingly

I think Russia now deliberately prolongs the war because of those asinine sanctions that caused this devastating inflation the longer the war in Ukraine more oil reserves are being spent less oil more expensive it gets and will further ruin Western economies. Crude oil may be 200-250 $ per barrel till the end of the year and inflation will get to double digit

And oil companies would drill more because they would want to sell more oil to make more money. Higher prices means people buying less oil.
