A drive around Largs to Grandpa (My dad) who is now 80, spots as he reminisces and passes down his memories of his beloved Largs. We drove up to Linn Avenue, where he lived and up to Routenburn road to a farm and Golf course where he used to climb up twice a week to listen to music that was transmitted from the radio ships, this was the rock n roll era. He would sit near the transmitter pole to get the French radio, listen to the music, this improved his French!
I also drove grandpa up to the new ‘Largs Academy’, he is not impressed. We never have a reason to go up this end of Largs these days, dad is feeling emotional that Largs has extended so much and the extent of developments happening. When he was a wee boy the school did not extend to high school and he would have to go by train to Ardrossan. It was great documenting his memories and my son learning our family history.
