@@Zamugustar That's actually a really good question. I'll reach out to some people I know at Creality and see what they say. I think the concern would be that when it retracts the filament and feeds in a new one there is a risk of it snagging or bumping up along the edge of the runout sensor. I know that on the K1 Max at least in the earlier editions that run out sensor was always kept on the inside of the chassis and it actually banked hard left which often caused filament to get snagged. The K1C on the other hand doesn't have this issue as it's on the outside of the casing. I think what made it a lot easier for filament change swaps and for the sensor run out is that on the K2 the runout sensor is built right into the extruder. So it makes it a lot easier for those filament changes from the CFS. In any case excellent question and I'm going to find out

I"m looking for a large build area printer. Hopefully Creality won't make false claims with this like they did with the K1C and the "all metal extruder" that was actually 95%+ all plastic (which makes me question if they actually tested it and found it can print clog free for 1,000 hours - hmmm...). Also hope they tested it thoroughly so customers don't end up being beta testers for this. BTW also heard that Bambu is said to come out with a larger build area printer and or a multi-print head printer like the Prusa XL but at a lower price point. Suppose to hear something on that by end of the year. Will see how it goes.

@@theVariedLife it's interesting you say that I actually did overhear this being told by a bambu employee in a conversation to a well known KZreadr . Meantime if you're okay with having a little bit of FOMO it's always best to kind of hang back a little just so that the initial released units go through its paces in which I'm sure they're going to be issues out of the gate as many printers have. Granted sometimes you have a printer that knocks it out of the park from day one but if you want to play it safe it might be worth holding back for about a month or so.

Lol, very true I should have added that in there. So to be honest it's going to be a combination of different things. First off in our advanced robotics classes we build full size Astromech droids. The build size is perfect for these larger pieces. Additionally I definitely plan to print Life size Rancor head like the one Uncle Jesse did on the Elegoo Orangestorm. So I think peace is like the tongue impossibly some other large items will go on here. But just having the power to print at this size along with all the corexy features and capabilities that we expect is just amazing.

@@modourouslodourous9527 absolutely it's very unlikely today when things just get birthed out of a total void. However some companies definitely take bigger spins on things. For example it is very difficult apparently to get these CoreXY machines to work correctly at larger sizes so there is still innovation there This isn't just copying something else but taking something that's out there and then making it better.

@@CatchiestWorm12 So while the 1499 Is the MSRP I feel like they'll always be a deal or something that brings it down 20 to 30% , it looks like it's out of stock now but earlier this morning it was around $1,200. Maybe they'll give a huge discount for July 4th

@@CaptainCreativity $1200 is still way too much for me especially for a first and (hopefully) only printer, I'm looking at the Sovol SV08 which has the 4 main features I was looking for at way cheaper. I understand why that printer is so much cheaper than this one but I can't ignore the difference.

  • @CaptainCreativity

@@CatchiestWorm12I totally hear you. My hope is that eventually it will come down to somewhere like $750 to $850 which is what they were willing to let it go for during the 50% promotion. Keep in mind we are getting the inclusion in this bundle of the CFS so it would be interesting what they're going to price it at once they remove the CFS for those who don't want it. I am interested in learning more about some of the differences such as the multiple cameras that Creality uses for layer detection etc and also whether or not the new sovol also sports the closed loop servo motors and have active heating in the chamber. I'm going to definitely try to see if I could get my hands on that Sovol and try to do a comparison. I'm also just interested in having large format CoreXY printers that print beautifully at an affordable price. In any case stay tuned as I'll do my best to try to get these printers and then do more of a breakdown and comparison. However like I mentioned my real hope is that prices will come down or there will be plenty of deals and opportunities to get the combo at much for digestible pricing. All good points that you've raised so definitely keep them coming

You make a lot of great points here. I see that the delivery is happening right now in July. That 50% off initial run is pretty indicative of how much this should of cost from the get go, i bet they still made money at that price when considering R&D and production costs. It seems like they're trying to throw a curve ball at consumers because they're trying to compete with Bambu. Its the "If they can ship an X1C at these prices, so can we" mentality. Sadly i dont see it go down to those initial discount levels until a k3 launches.
