    Mine arrived a couple of days ago.There`s quite a few problems. 1) All 8 spark plug washers are the wrong ones.They are all horribly distorted to the point of not sealing at all. Might be worth checking yours. 2) Oil pump belt WAY too tight. It`s actually bending the water pump shaft.Needs the mounting altering. 3) You need to rotate the rotor arm relative to the inlet cam to alter the timing.Turning the cap does nothing. 4) Cams are very badly machined and also badly designed.Put a DTI on the base circle and at least on mine I`m getting a deviation of 0.45mm.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Should be zero That`s huge considering the total valve lift is only 1.3mm . A "pointy" cam is the worst possible design for roller followers although it would be ok with flat tappets. I`m in the process of machining up 4 new cams with a lot more duration. 5) There`s a restriction in the flat plate under the carbs. Holes are too small.

    Thanks for your opinion! I think that these engines are built very weak on purpose to reduce the work in development and reduce the stress on the parts. That's why all the carbs, intakes and valves I've seen on these china engines are very small. The Conley V8s seemed to be very different quality. Still amazing what they're making now, and it can only improve. Plus the price is already remarkable

    for an engine this expensive, these problems shouldnt exsist at all. I mean I know that the machining takes a while and the lower production numbers makes economies of scale non excistant, but the quality should be put into these engines to allow for simple assembly and running in no time, there shouldnt be these pretty major quality control issues. I wouldnt want to spend thousands on an engine only for mounting brakets to be re fabricated, cams not even close to functional, screws and shafts that are bent or missing, and the entire thing just isnt built well. With the low production volume and price, I would expect the engine to work flawlessly with no extra work needed on my end, probably test ran to ensure prefection on such an expensive engine, and better CQ to catch these glaring issues. I would love to get one, but even at half the price I wouldnt want this because of the issues, fabricating and machining rerquirements to get this running, and just the lack of any support.

    There's no accelerator pump on those carbs, so on throttle opening they go lean. Richen the mixture slightly and that should help. Not sure if the intake has two planes, but if it does, synchronization would be necessary to prevent stumbling on acceleration. Additional flywheel mass may help smooth out running at the cost of throttle response. Valve seats and seating may be poor, lapping in the valves or just more break-in will help starting and idle stability.

    If it calls for straight 20 weight oil you might want to consider using straight 20 weight. I don't know where you would get that but 20w50 is going to behave like 50 weight oil at temperature and the manufacturer may be counting on the oil being thin at temperature to properly lubricate everything. I'm not sure what their design tolerances are but if they're expecting 20 weight and you're giving them 50 weight at temperature that could be a problem

  • @patx35

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    Жыл бұрын

    @@patx35 Yeah that would probably work just fine. I just worry that oil being that thick might not be able to get where it needs to go and do what it needs to do. It's also going to cause a lot of drag in the motor.

  • @MrHBSoftware

    @MrHBSoftware

    Жыл бұрын

    your assessment of the oil is wrong....the multigrade oil 20w50 has a weight or viscosity of 20 but lubricates like if it was a 50...thanks to the additives....so its still a 20...has the viscosity of a straight 20...with the advantage of protecting like a 50..... for example on modern diesel engines they used 5w30 but now are switching to 0w30...they both lubricate and protect like a 30 but the 0w is much thinner resulting in less friction and more efficiency.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    Жыл бұрын

    @@MrHBSoftware That's not how it works. 20w50 Multiviscosity oil is designed to have the cold viscosity of 20 weight oil when cold but the hot viscosity of 50 weight oil when hot. Essentially it doesn't thin out as much as a single grade oil as it heats up. This allows It will be thin and flow well when cold yet not be too thin and lose its ability to work properly when hot. Look it up.

It's ALSO leaking, with burnt out BRAND NEW parts AND it doesn't even run ??? How can you miss part's when there's ONLY 35 in total and was there a BOM? Moving the cap of the distributer is unlikely to alter timing as the pickup sensor related to the trigger does that.

    Are the spark wires damaged? It looks like there was some arcing between the rearmost cylinder on the left and the bundle of spark wires.

    Those carbs should have a main circuit mixture adjustment screw in the center of the throttle slide. It may be covered by a push-in cap. Some versions of that carb are easy to adjust, some are made idiot proof.

    I also bought this machine there is no problem so far it's amazing you should adjust the carburetor it comes out of the factory it's not the best I noticed the igniter you use 4s battery power it's voltage is over the rated voltage of the igniter so it doesn't work properly that's something to be aware of

    I'm sorry dude 😮‍💨 These Chinese engines are all so terribly built. It's a pain every time to watch how bad these run. Even if the manufacturers send them to you for free "to get a positive feedback", please don't support that and don't promote such bad products. Believe me, there is nothing more to save! I have been building model engines myself for a long time and it hurts my heart when I see something like this 😭 Best regards from Switzerland!

    @@borivojetravica569 Good question! At the moment I would recommend KPL 632 V8 engine by KPL Perfomance. This engine ist just out of space! The pricing for a new engine is 12'500 US$. Another alternative would be a Jerry Howell's V8 or Gary Conley's V8 on the used market. These are all high-quality motors and when you are lucky you can find one under for a fair price. And no, my homemade V8 isn't for sale 😅

    @@borivojetravica569 Very good question! Diesel model engines used to be very popular in the 70s. However, they were difficult to handle and it felt like it took hours to get them running. Diesel model engines were then replaced by glow igniters with methanol. These were much better to handle and easier to start. That was at the beginning of the 80s. What you mean are classic diesel engines with direct injection. The manufacturability of such small engines is probably not given here.
