07:56 "Cet amour me tue..." This part of the song I love so much, which gives me goosebumps and makes me cry. I'm French and I remember this song originally written and sang by Serge Lama in 1973, which was then sang by Lara Fabian in 1999. I was 20 at the time and I used to listen to it over and over again. Nostalgic moment 😢❤

“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, but a few months after, Dalida covered it and brought it to fame. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends. Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations. This 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella. “Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. Another sparkling performance from Lara Fabian. Small note, Celine Dion is one of the best performers in the world, but she NEVER gives us emotions like Lara Fabian. Her stage presence, her body language, the emotions she conveys when she sings are INCOMPARABLE. You should listen to MADEMOISELLE HYDE (SOCHI 2016) WITH IGOR KRUTOY, A DELICE. On the other hand, listen to REQUIEM POUR UN FOU with rocker Johnny Halliday, you will discover a completely different Lara Fabian. She is so versatile. Thank you from Montreal.

To Shining their light in the Area of my heart: My friend, (and I'm being polite) you are completely blindsided by your love for Celine Dion. It's a shame, because you can't accept someone saying they don't feel any emotion listening to Celine Dion. I YET SAID that she was one of the greatest performers in the world. Your ANALYSIS of my comment is completely disconnected from what I wrote. It's because of people like you that there's so much shit cluttering the comments of those who react to our singers. TAKE OFF YOUR PINK GLASSES and appreciate the immense talent of Lara Fabian. I hope you won't waste time answering me.

@@ifluvinguiswrong I don't know what you find disrespectful in saying that Lara Fabian gives us emotions that very few singers can give us. Celine Dion is one of the greatest performers in the world, but please listen to the song properly and take off your pink glasses. I'm from Quebec and I love Celine Dion, but take the time to watch and listen properly to the delivery of Lara Fabian's songs and you will be able to speak knowingly. Lara Fabian is one of Dimash's idols as he was growing up. He not only covered many of her songs (Adagio, Mademoiselle Hyde, Love is a dream, etc.), he also sang duets with her. While Dimash of course has a wider range and bigger lungs (compared to almost all artists!), Lara's ability to make the audience FEEL emotion is still on another level, though Dimash is closing in. This is spoken as a HUGE "dear" of Dimash's!

in the song , it says "ca fait deux ans que tu t'en fous" which got subbed as "it's nearly been 2 years since you dont care" but "fous" means fuck but low-key, so it can be used in conversations as long as it means "not giving a f." so, the better translation of "ca fait deux ans que tu t'en fous" is "it's been 2 years that you don't give a f. about it

Enjoy your reaction here and went back and listened to your one on Adagio. Although I'm a real Lara fan (been blessed to see her live in concert 10+ times, the last being in June in Montreal), I have no issue with comparing her with Celine who also is a phenomenal talent in her own right of course. I believe Lara is perhaps more accomplished being a major composer in addition to being a performer who's works have been sung by the likes of Streisand, Josh Groban, etc. My main issue is most reactions on Lara tend to be these when she was 20-30 years old. Those are epic performances to be sure. As you mentioned - "is she still performing", which is a valid query. The lady is freak'n 52 years old and still sounds phenomenal! I would suggest reacting to an older Lara ; I've provided a few suggestions here: LLora )40+ Lara in Moscow - kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2uJsqannbPTh5s.html Lara in her mid 40's - Je t'aime Encore kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2uJsqannbPTh5s.html There are of course many others but I think this provies a contrast.

It is a compliment to Celine Dion. Celine doesn't draw people with emotions. When I was 19/20 I used to say that she was in a list of singers that annoyed me. Specially, the titanic music which I can't listen to. I understand you , but after what I've said and knowing her team screwed Lara in US, I hats the comparison. I believe that Celine can be a nice person, she had a great voice( not to my ears) and I've compassion for her illness.

Can't believe that it is possible to pause this incredible performance so many times. Information like - I think I might know the chorus... Just think about it for a second, all of us who clicked on your reaction know the chorus. Enjoy the song, the talent, the moment... Jeez.

He's giving his insight and talking about her voice and performance. If you just want company to watch the video you can do a videoconference with a family member or a friend... If you want to watch the video without being interrupted, you can rightv Lara Fabian Je Suis Malade and you watch the whole video without beiing interrupted, or you can watch those guys that don't know a thing about music (those who say "wow", "she's an amazing singer" and another clichés that any person who knows her know!

I would like you to react to a song by a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro. With the song "El perdón" she is a very versatile singer who sings different musical styles. With some melismas and a very particular voice that characterize her. Best regards

I've seen a comment somewhere that speculated that near the end where she lowers her microphone, the engineers must have turned her up in the mix to keep her sound. And that could have happened. But if so, that is the one spot in the whole song where she completely forgot about mic placement and just dropped her hand down almost to her waist. Hmm, that just doesn't seem real likely, her mic technique seems so automatic, right?

She has other performances of this song (2003,2010) where she sings completely acapella without the mic in a 8,000 venue and her resonance allows her to be heard by all

Céline and Lara's birth language is french. Lara is a fan of Céline. That's probably why they sound similar. French vowels are very wide and opened. Belting sounds different with opening vowels.
