Throughout its long and rich history, New York's Carnegie Hall and great pianism
have been synonymous. Lang Lang's Carnegie Hall debut on 7 November 2003
seems to be an event of similar importance. Although Lang Lang had barely
celebrated his 21st birthday at the time of this concert, his portfolio already boasts an
impressive array of high-profile, international appearances. Given Lang Lang's swift
and steady ascent, one can easily imagine the inevitable pressure on this young
artist to deliver the goods in the face of increased scrutiny from colleagues and
critics. As it happens, he handles the limelight with confidence and consummate
grace.

  • @silencedogood7297

    @silencedogood7297

    6 ай бұрын

    "Be like " is poor grammar, written by a fool who is impressed with glitter but not with real gold or real substance. Lang Lang's body movements do nothing to the sound and are just for show. The real criticism we real pianists have is that he plays anything marked loud(forte) extra loudly, anything marked soft (piano) super softly, anything fast (presto or vif) way too quickly.. Everything he plays sounds like an old hooker wearing too much makeup to cover her facial wrinkles , too short a skirt to cover her wrinkled legs and her blouse as open as possible to promote her sagging bosom. He puts down the sustain pedal too much to blur his uneven passages. He demonstrates no subtlety or understanding of the structure and history of any piece he performs. A critic may have written that this young showman is the "new Liszt" but List was not noted for banging the bass, rushing and changing temp on a whim, or putting on an act. Look it up.
