My mum has Alzheimer's. I put headphones on her and played her this piece, and she has been moved to tears all afternoon. she keeps saying; "I don't know how he does it!" She saw Lang Lang in concert years ago in London and she has mentally, literally been back at that concert. Thank you!

My Mother is dead. My father lives for now. He is 85 ages old. Pless him.

Jesus....this had me in tears. For me it goes back a very long way.....as a small boy maybe 6 or 7 hearing the neighbour play it in the evening. It struck a chord with me as music has been in my life throughout even though i cannot play any instrument. I'm 70 years old now.....in tears!!

Hacker0_o his temp is out of place due to the use of rubato- which means to play without a proper tempo, or something likw that. It is often used in romantic period, and this piece is from the romantic period. To those who play this piece, I doubt they will play this piece without the use of rubato

Best interpretation of Liebestraum I've heard.. Pure of emotion and control..

So gentle and full of emotions. How can he sound so colourful. So many different sounds that he plays the piano like a string instrument. Close your eyes and enjoy. Incredible.

3:51 onwards is so delicate

Honestly, I've never seen an interpretation of any classical piece by Lang Lang that I liked. This is his first ever performance that truly left me speechless. He doesn't play it by the classical rules of interpreting a piece, he instead pours his heart out on the piano and makes something way more beautiful. Bravo!

I agree, having always considered LL to be rather robotic & metronomic. I am guessing that this song must have some personal meaning for him the way he caresses thru some of the notes.

the appassionata by Beethoven he also played well ..but I agree most performances I don't like either. But slower pieces he plays really touching. The fast pieces sometimes get messy and weird.

You have to understand that Liszt had a lot of hardships that this guy never faced, ergo, he does not have nearly enough background to know how to play the piece with full effect. It’s not the performers fault, especially if they don’t have time to research the composer.

The lead up from 2:50 to the chord at 2:58 literally gives me chills every time. This whole piece hits deep i dont know how else to describe

Well you're gonna have to say that again after I listened to it.

Beautiful. Definitely the best recording/performance I have heard by far. Lang Lang puts so much genuine emotion into his music. The run at 3:08 is often times played harshly and fast, but Lang Lang plays it most delicately. Absolutely Beautiful.

This wonderful man touches the soul when he plays the piano. A musical genius. He brings tears to my eyes. Simply beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ watching from UK xxxxx

Why, I've never found Lang Lang's facial expression bothering me. I usually listen to music with my ears, not my eyes. And my ears tell me he plays it heavenly.

There is a good reason why the entire Hall stood up for him. He is exceptionally brilliant.

This piece is one of my Liszt favorites, beauty and emotional. Masterfully interpreted by the way.

Regardless of the argument whether he overdoes his expression, a blind person will love his interpretations more than anything. Perhaps, critique like most of you shouldn't rely on sight. After all, we absorb music through our ears right?

Unconditional individual expression...that is the true definition of art. A ludere--a play of life.

True art detaches man from the world around him. Sending heartfelt gratitude and immense joy from the composer and performer. Bravo

Not to deny that he is a good pianist, but I bet he'd be even better if he didn't bother paying attention to those ridiculous movements he makes.

Wow! Never thought that such over-wrought, carefully choreographed expressions of sensuous ecstasy could generate such strong reactions.

His music is with sheer beauty. Lang Lang is a great pianist.He brought so much air into music. I felt really comfortable hear him playing.

I had the pleasure of seeing Lang Lang live with Herbie Hancock at the Royal Albert Hall. Best gig I've ever been to by far.

My mom always play this piece when i was a baby, and till now i can’t stop listen to this piece. Such a beautiful piece i love this piece🥰❤

every piece lang lang plays leaves me absolutely speechless. he just plays everything so beautifully, i cant even express how amazing he is. ong LOL.

I was not really one of his fans - until now. He must have been very inspired while playing this version.. the melody phrasing from the very beginning on is very moving, absolute perfection, total concentration. Good job, Lang Lang..!

Liebestraum, I've listened to so many times being played by different pianists of high repute - none of them gives more life to the music than this one. What a romance with the ivories...

This is the only version that made me have sorrow feelings on my heart. The soft touches that he made is unbelievable.

For me this is the most beautiful version, at least amongst all the ones on youtube.

Lang Lang’s interpretation of this is so soulful. He captured and enhanced the emotions of this piece, beautifully delivering the ups and downs of a long lost love. At the conclusion of the piece, the way Lang Lang finished gave such a beautiful closure that had me in tears.

You are the best Lang Lang, exquisite performance.

Just thank God we have this music in our lives, and that there are people in this world like Lang Lang who will sacrafice everything to be virtuosos for us. I wouldn't give a damn if he chewed gum while performing.

Franz Liszt was known for his showmanship and outrageous piano techniques. People who commented on Lang Lang's facial expressions to be unnecessary forgot the fact that Liszt was also like this in the past.
