that drive channel sounds like a plexi. clean channel like a deluxe reverb. Damn Laney is slept on amps.
the shot of the amp with your guitar playing reflected in the chrome is great. ta for the vid

Hello, thank you. Take care.
Just discovered your channel and so happy I did. I have this amplifier-Date on the chassis is 1996. It is the loudest 30 watt amp I have ever played through. Louder than many 50 watt amps I've tried. New tubes about a year ago. Has worked flawlessly. I doubt I will ever part with it. I have an Ampeg (Celestion) 2x12 cabinet I'm thinking of trying with it. One day I'd like to have it gone through as you did this one. *Preventive maintenance*

Hello Charlie, thank you. They are good amps. They sound great on extension cabs. It's a shame they never made a head version of these amps. Thanks for watching and take care.
I'd say that was a 'great' 30 watt amp idea for gigging in smaller venues .. Thanks for the tour inside & out Martyn and some great playing to demo it's capabilities. Change that 1X12 for a more recognisable driver and I'd say you could cover most playing styles and venues with it.

the LC30 mark 2 version has a much better Celestion speaker, and has been a brilliant reliable amp for me for about 20 years, i upgraded the output transformer to a Hammond AC30 type, and did some other component upgrades on the board, and better quality power cable, speaker cable and plug, it sounds wonderful.
Nice vid👍🏽 I have one of these, with a scumback driver swapped in, and your absolutely right, the change of driver makes a big improvement.

Hello, I bet it sounds way better with one of those in it. Thanks for watching and take care.
I have the LC15 which I love to bits! have plugged it into a 4x12, sounds killer! this sounds similar, the LC30 maybe a bit more fluid and juicy. great tone nice playing by the way!

Hello. Those LC15 amps sound great on a 4 x 12. They should have made a head version. Thanks for watching and take care.
My main amp for years for playing live, cranked to the max, fucking killer sound, also used a few different pedals, Electro Harmonix English Muffn, pearl OD- 05) overdrive , Jim Dunlop crybaby, and a zoom multi effects, Killer tone.

Hello David. Yep they are a very underrated guitar amp. Thanks for watching and take care.
I hope my Amp tech tested my amps with chops like yours. Some serious runs over that fret board. Thank you it didn't sound too bad on KZread compression, I have the vc30 and yes there very loud I actually gave a Marshall jcm 800 a run for the money, My Laney a UK made model was played through a 2 x 12 open back cab, killer tone that night. Cheers for showing your knowledge and technical abilities and that playing.

Hello, thank you. Wow that VC 30 must be loud if gave a JCM800 a run. These amps work much better on a good external cab. Thanks for watching and take care.
Have had one of these in my closet for years. This video reminded me why lol.

Hello. Yes, not a bad amp to play through and sound great on a Marshall 4 x 12 cab. Thanks for watching and take care.
I got one free years ago from a tenant who just vanished. I got it put in a custom head. It is actually great rock and even metal amp. Lotsa gain and bass on tap.

Hello. These make great heads. They sound superb on a Marshall 4 x 12. And even better if it's a freebie. Thanks for watching and take care.
Unlike the Laney you worked on previously, this one has a bolt and solder terminal for the ground, and it looks like they scraped the paint away where the bolt tightens up against the chassis.

Yes, much better job on this one. And the grid stoppers are on the tube bases.!
I didn't realise these were similar to the AOR. Might look out for one. I thought the clean sounded rather nice!

Hello David. It's the speaker that lets them down. But no big deal to change it.. Take care.
I like the clean channel sound of the amp, with either speaker. I'm not sure your camera microphone's recordings do the amp justice. Probably sounds a lot different in the room.

Hello Michael. It's always difficult recording guitar amps. Buy an expensive mic you can make most things sound good. I try to get a fair recording of the amps I demo. The mic in the camera is not bad quality but if I get it to close then I can't get the in shot properly. I use to mic them up but sound didn't reflect the amp. When you mic a small amp up it has a bigger sound, so is an unbiased demo. It's a tough one. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Take care.

Thanks for watching Paul. Take care.
Is it hybrid like IRT Studio 15 or true valve? Lot of SMD on the board. Could you compare it to DSL 20/40?
@vintageguitaramp_guitarteacher

Hello Marek. It's true valve. I couldn't say if it's like a DSL as I have not seen the schematic for one of those. It does have some similarities with some of the older, bigger Marshall amps. Thanks for watching and take care.
I have a lc30 mk1 same as this. Have had it from new saved ny Saturday job money when I was 14. Ive always had a problem with the HT fuse blowing frequently, any idea what might be the problem? I've been meaning to change the speaker for years as I agree the laney own HH isn't much good tbh.

Hello. It could be a number of things. Does it blow as soon as you switch it on? Or is it when it gets hot?
@OJ71081

@@vintageguitaramp_guitarteacher yeah I'll put it on standby and then when I turn it on a few minutes later it blows before I can do anything else.

What would be a good speaker replacement? I think a while back someone suggested a Jensen c12 or something.

Jenson is a good choice. Or a Celestion G12-75 would be good.
