Bobcats are elusive and hard to spot. Chances are, most people will not be able to spot a wild bobcat because they mostly come out at night, their fur helps to camouflage them, and they prefer to stay away from humans.

*Edit* I was using the term "big cats" loosely in this video for sizing. However, as a viewer pointed out, bobcats are not classified scientifically as a big cat.
I grew up in the coastal mountains of southern California and had many pets. One day I saw an injured bobcat by the side of the road and removed my jacket, wrapped the cat up and brought him home. my dad worked in a hospital emergency room and loved animals. He dampened a clean rag in ether and held it near the bobcats face until it relaxed then carefully felt for broken bones or internal injuries and found nothing obvious. he wrapped the chest and stomach gently with gaze and taped it and put it in our workshop with a dish of water and raw fish. We fed it raw chicken or fish twice a day for 6 weeks and anestetised it again to remove the wrap and left the workshop door open. He left but in the wintertime he would return for free food and seemed to have a mild arthritus in one rear leg; Sometimes he would let us pet him but other times he would growl if we approached. We always respected his wishes and he came around for many years and got along with our cats.

I once had a cross breed, bobcat and Maine coon, he looked like a Maine coon and sounded like a bobcat, he was the sweetest boy ever, he was 3 months old when his momma a stray that I feed died, I had him with me for 14+ years miss him he was highly intelligent as well as such a cuddle bud😢
I saw a bobcat once crossing the road and going into the forest. Will always be a favorite memory. 🥰

They sure are elusive creatures. In my 66 years, i have only seen one bobcat in the wild. It was more than 40 years ago and he was in the driveway of my dad's old saw mill in Goshen, Massachusetts. He was a big healthy looking cat. We gazed into each others eyes for a bit, and eventually he went on his way across the driveway, leaped over a stone wall and off into the woods. I would bet the farm that they have seen me in the woods many more times than i have seen them. I would love to see another one. One of these days, maybe i will put up a few trail cams for the fun of it.

I've been lucky enough to see them a few times here in North Texas/Oklahoma! I've also picked one up on a trail cam, so it is definitely worth trying. 🐾
We had bobcats at our office building in Irving TX. They would come up from the ravine nearby and hide in the pampas grass. Very interesting video, love the detailed information provided.

I live in a wooded area of rural Central Massachusetts. One morning at the edge of the wood near my house was a longer tailed cat. A week later in the same area was another cat with a bobbed tail. Most likely a Bobcat pair. What surprised me the most was it's 'stare'. A bit unnerving. I now warily exit my house these days in the early dark mornings. Thanks for this video.

While bobcat "spray" like other felines, excites dogs and seems to terrify feral house cats, I have never come across bobcat scat. I have encountered bobcat 2x in my life and heard stories of encounters. Interesting animals.

Populations are highest in the southwest, as high as 20 per square mile. Southern cats are smaller than northern cats, only 10 to 20 pounds. Northern cats can grow to 40 pounds. Mice, rats, rabbits are in danger from bobcats, not people. They pose no threat to people. Bobcats will do their best to avoid humans. We are not a prey species. If you see one, just enjoy watching it.

Hello aunt Mary I always had Distant memories As a kid of uncle Dinny teasing me about the not only existence of Bobcats but the large populations in Northern America often being confused with the Lynx. Populations of them have grown now Sharing the role of Apex predator along with black bears sometimes brown bears but very few all though I've seen stats for Kodiaks and Grizzly being a little bit more promising

Dunno what the distrobution of bob cats are.......but many moons ago, as a child, I went on cycling / camping holiday in France and we were camping in some random field......got up earlyish - around 6 am and I saw large stocky cat......around the size and build of a bobcat. It was just a fleeting glimpse. But Ive always wondered what I saw.

Bobcats are native to the Americas and are pretty much all over North America and Mexico. Since you saw one in France, it's likely you saw a Eurasian or Iberian Lynx, bigger relatives of the Bobcat.

bobcat 15kg vs pitbull 20kg who win? :l

The two most likely would avoid each other since it would be a fight to the death. However, I would say that the dog would win because of the size and the power of its jaw.

Actually, roaring is not what makes a big cat a big cat, a big cat is any cat that belongs to the tribe Pantherini, therefore snow leopards, clouded leopards, cheetahs, pumas, and jaguarundis are big cats Taxonomy: • Tribe: Pantherini (Big Cats) •• Subtribe: Acinonychina (Lesser Big Cats) ••• Genus: Acinonyx (Cheetahs) •••• Species: Acinonyx venaticus (Asiatic Cheetah) •••• Species: Acinonyx jubatus (African Cheetah) ••• Genus: Puma (Puma Lineage) •••• Species: Puma concolor (Puma) ••• Genus: Herpailurus (Jaguarundi Lineage) •••• Species: Herpailurus yagouaroundi (Jaguarundi) •• Subtribe: Pantherina (Greater Big Cats) ••• Genus: Panthera (Leopard and Lion Lineage) •••• Species: Panthera pardus (Leopard) •••• Species: Panthera leo (Lion) ••• Genus: Uncia (Snow Leopard and Tiger Lineage) •••• Species: Uncia uncia (Snow Leopard) •••• Species: Uncia tigris (Tiger) ••• Genus: Neofelis (Clouded Leopards) •••• Species: Neofelis nebulosa (Chinese Clouded Leopard) •••• Species: Neofelis diardi (Sunda Clouded Leopard) ••• Genus: Jaguarius (New World Roaring Cats) •••• Species: Jaguarius onca (Jaguar)
Apart from the lie that is evolution, good video.
