My family were coalminers from Merthyr Tydfil. They immigrated to the southern part of Utah, USA (a desert area,) where again they were miners. Their next generation moved on to many other occupations. My Great Grandfather became a farmer and politician in Idaho. Thank you for this film. In loving memory of those who lived, died and worked so hard in those caverns.

Merthyr Tydfil the real and rightful capital of Wales..not some little city down the road that only exists from the success of Merthyr and other out of city areas. If crawshay didn’t pay his workers in his own printed money and instead paid in real currency this town would have grown in to one of the largest city’s in Britain or Europe but crawshay paid poorly and got away with it because he owned Merthyr the police the courts the shops everything. The number one town in the world for iron, admiral nelson even visited the town at one time because Merthyr made all the cannons and so on for his ships...where do you end with this town you could go on for ever..Trevithick first steam locomotive in the world that carried both goods and passengers, Joseph parry, bacon, Bessemer ......
