A great classic from the greatest GP era: the Fifties to early Sixties. Those that survive will be around forever.

I heard one of these at the Goodwood Revival three years ago during the 2.5 liter GP race...it was the loudest car in the field, so much so that you could distinctly hear it coming about a 1/2 mile away. Fantastic.

nothing like a silent old race car that suddenly snaps to life and begins to growl, roar and tells the world "yeah, I'm still alive and fuck you!" and drives off.

Man... it was not ponytail guy's day that day. Not only was the starter kicking his ass, he dragged the bonnet across the paint when trying to toss it on by himself. I imagine the pressure was on... Boss was getting embarrassed sitting there with everyone watching, and you can't make his toy start. LOL Cheers

Might have a transaxle gearbox mounted over the rear axle. Starter would engage the primary shaft. I'd need to look it up.

The wrist-snapping starter could use some fresh engineering before it hurt's somebody.

@@franciscodieguez5187 No worries Mate! The remote starter actually spins the transaxle main shaft that sticks out the back & that turns the engine with the clutch engaged.

Cozzys get a straight squirt of gas; phooey on that spritz bottle.

My CMC Lancia D50 is more quiet but also beautiful.

Those external fuel tanks were always intimidating on the D50's... not only was the car a rolling bomb if it did crash... But I cant help but think Maserati also probably did it to intimidate/scare other opponents in races from even making any mistake around this thing... Wanna stop dirty racing and contact? Make your car a bomb!

First In All Trials, too... Better than many other super-pumped brands (This was the nickname FIAT took after its cars became unbeatable in the Grand Prix races). Moreover, no other brand has even succeeded better than FIAT to interpret the concept of utilitarian car. Almost all of the family are milestones

Tyhe starter guy was the weakest link. He had the wrong length shaft on the starter . The spare guy could have sprayed the petrol , and the whole equipe would have looked 100% better! A poncey hair display 'aint any use . Common Sense is!

Kmq bel video e bel rumore .

That much gasoline in that spray bottle, not smart and you should only spray fuel during cranking, this is the amateur hour, and the engine does not sound good far too high revolutions on a cold start, the face of the man at the end of the video says it all, I'm not the only one who noticed.

Yeah. Clear enough that you never drove anything that wasn't computer controlled. How do you figure manually spraying eight cylinders simultaneously during cranking is supposed to work? That's what they invented choke for, which this car obviously predates. And revving the engine is the only way to not let it instantly stall again when cold - both that driver and the starter guy actually do know their business and I would seriously doubt that you could ever manage to even get any sign of life out of that engine.
