peachy tune she says in an interview (back in the day) her and same the same guy who did two other songs on the album (flipside and can’t remember what else) just decided to do a 3rd song and she said she was just in her feelings and she hit out the lyrics in a couple mins and then he just vibed with instruments as she sung and then obvs the edit and production done another time, but the lyrics and base instruments done in one take

ultraviolence was the very first album i owned, when i was 12. it was a summer afternoon, i laid on my bed with my eyes closed and windows open. i listened to the entire thing. it’s still my favourite album of all time.

this record will go down as one of the greats

fun fact: Brooklyn baby has like a hidden meaning. It's a response to people who criticized her in her early career. That's why she says "they say I'm too young to love you" cause what she sings and her music sounds from the 70s. Also, when she says "they judge me like a picture book, by the colors like if they forgot to read", because they criticized her for being "depressive, submissive, for promoting abuse" and shit like that because nobody took the time to understand the real meaning of her songs. At the end, she also says "you never liked the way I said it, if you don't get it then forget it" saying that those who criticize her never understood her music. "So I don't have to fucking explain it" QUEEN!!!

My favs are Shades of Cool, Old Money, The Other Woman, West Cool, Black Beauty and Brooklyn Baby. Pretty When You Cry was done freestyling, she's just throwing the lyrics out like a poet she is. F My Way To The Top is rumored to be about a popular female artist who critised her during her BTD era. It's a clapback song. And the album Ultraviolence itself is a clapback at the critics who used to say she cannot sing so all the songs in this album were recorded live with her raw vocal. It went to sell more than one million copies without having any radio friendly songs. 👏👏👏

I don`t know if you noticed yet but if u pay attention to the backing vocals at the end of Ultraviolence, you`ll see that those lines are the pre-chorus after the first verse of Fucked My Way Up To The Top, Idk but, for me, those details are sick and it`s part of why I love her so much. I don't ever comment on videos but when he said Born to Die and Ultraviolence are night and day made me so excited for him to listen to Honeymoon. Going into Honeymoon, I just wanna say Taylor, Honeymoon is a project that grows on you not only because her voice carries the project (which is very bold and courageous) but also because her lyricism and storytelling is magnificent... to this day one of my favorite albums of all time

In a fair world, Lana would be compared to The Beatles.

According to Lana, the song Pretty When You Cry was recorded in one take with her guitar player, Blake Stranathan, at Electric Lady Studios. “The way you heard it recorded is the way I freestyled it. I made it up on the spot with my guitar player and left it as it was with that session drummer, and just called it a day on that song. Like the vocal inflection has its own narrative, it’s not all lyric drive, it’s just kind of moments in time that are meaningful to me left as they were, kind of untouched. The fact that I didn’t go back and try to sing it better is really the story of that song, because that’s sort of me revealing to you a facet of myself: I don’t care that it’s not perfect. That’s why that song is more important in that way than what I’m actually saying.”

i know everyone loves "Shades of Cool" or "West Coast". but my favorite is "Old Money". it's hit different for me and feels so personal. amazing deep dive as always Tay... 💕

@@fa9274 Cruel World is one of the best songs of all time tbfh. it has so much pain. like metal as a genre naturally makes you feel anger and hurt, or helps u release it. i’ve never heard a song that matches that kind of emotional grasp that isn’t metal, but cruel world does, and fuck is it done right.

Audicula for me it was strangely the other way around after btd, the first album i was able to get into was honeymoon, only then i started to appreciate ultraviolence

Interesting (sad) note on Brooklyn Baby: Lana wanted Lou Reed to feature in vocals (toward the end of the track). Lou also wanted to work alongside her & invited Lana to fly to New York and meet him. “I took the red eye, touched down at 7am … and two minutes later, he died,” she says. So that’s why BB has those Lou Reed references - it became a tribute to him instead 😢 It’s hard to not imagine what extra bit of that charismatic suave magic he could have sprinkled onto the track with her ❤

Ultraviolence is my favorite Lana Album. Every song is intoxicating. I LOVE Florida kilos ,it's got a different vibe from everything else on the album. Guns and roses ,I haven't seen anyone really like it yet ,it's definitely the weakest but it's not that bad.
