the white house told Madonna to refdo the video because it was Anti-American. So she gave the chesy verion. On the UK we lovedd the the Unedited Version.

I loved that M went experimental and non-mainstream with this album but this one fell flat for me.

The LP talks about the good and bad of sex. The ballad songs "Bad Girl" (about using self-destructive behaviors to stop hesrtache) and "In This Life" (about 2 of her close friends who succumbed to AIDS)

Crybaby’s story is that she’s a sensitive toddler and grows up with her family not showing her any love (dad cheats, brother smokes, and mom passes out) which leads crybaby to in soap try to find a lover but she overshared and then in training wheels is trying to take it to the next step then eventually her birthday comes up and no one shows up (not even her bf) and then she gets kidnapped and the trauma finally gets to her at pacify her so she’s basically a home wrecker because no one ever showed her love and the rest is just her being crazy ❤❤❤

I've been enjoying repeated views of this, it's such a great reaction, and gave me a new appreciation of an album I loved from the get anyway, and thought I completely understood. Just happened to read an old review of M's 1987 You Can Dance album by Robert Christgau, and this line from it really stood out, and reminded me of your reaction: The effects, repeats, breaks, and segues added by a star crew of remixers... this time the songs don't surface, they reach out and grab you. Reminding us that her first and probably truest calling was disco dolly--before she stormed MTV, she had an audience that loved the way she *sounded*.

Rebel Heart should have been Madonna’s return to dominance ala Ray of Light, Music, and Confessions. But the age aspect of the industry worked against her.

I find it cute that in Nobody's Perfect, the vocoder is so discordant with the melody that it mimicks how the song could be purposefully wonky at the beginning, then transforming into a beautiful self reflection ballad. Music is my favorite Madonna album - it's compact, daring and highly artistic. My favorite track is also Paradise, it encapsulates perfectly for me the alternative Y2K musical style and trends - the melancolic strings mixed in an all-electro pop vibe, with almost surrealistic lyrics, all the sythesizer textures... ahhh makes me extremely nostalgic.

This was the last song before Madonna lost me.. She's just gone completely Bonkers now and her music isn't unique and special anymore except from this one backwards.. at least in my opionion..

I'm reading quite a few comments freaking out about comparisons to Michael. The comparisons are only a problem if that is all that is talked about. Being influenced by Michael Jackson isn't a bad thing! Almost every successful artist has borrowed from Michael to make their own legendary videos. It's especially noted in Janet since she paid close attention to Michael while he made his music videos. She borrowed a lot of ideas from Michael but was able to put out her own interpretations, which ultimately set her apart from him.

I have been Madonna's fan since 1984 when Holidays and Borderline became popular. I was in 5 grade when she first became famous and I have been following her ever since. Even when I was in elementary school, I instinctively knew back then, that she would be around for a long time. She was so unique when she first started out. It has been interesting to watch her changed and grow over the years. She has so many different dimensions to her personality. Her music and styles reflect different period of her life. She can makes very touching ballads and high energy music at the same time. I'm glad that the younger generations are showing a lot of appreciation for Madonna now, but during the 80's and most of the 90's, the media and critics were so mean and nasty to her. They dragged her every chance they had. They criticized her all the time in the news. They called her a whore, a slut, a tramp, they said that she doesn't have talent, that she can't sing, she is just a business person. They called her all kinds of names. The media and the critics did not become nice to Madonna until she released the Ray of Light album. That was when she received several grammy and they start recognizing her a real singer and artist. She really had to put in a lot of work to get there. She had to put up with a lot of criticisms. The gay community was the only one that stood by Madonna since the early 80's. They still support her now. I'm fortunate to have Madonna be part of my life since I was a kid. There will never be another Madonna! The concert for Confession on the Dance Floor was just as good as the album! My top three Madonna's albums are Confession on the Dance Floor, Ray of Light and her first Album.

The singles were not as strong except for a couple of them but listening as an album it’s certainly a vibe. Very underrated during that period of backlash she received. It’s a great LP.
