When I listen to this song I imagine that someone has died, like her husband and like lana is of course, sad. and she's getting ready to go to the funeral by dying her hair and painting her nails. She sees the sky dark and gloomy and is thinking of her husband who died on the way to the funeral. then she's crying in the car "oh what can I do" then as the beat drops she's at the funeral and where it's taking place it's a really pretty place but she can't see it past the darkness from depression. and she walks down the street, everything she passes changes to black. when It gets to the point where it's like "I paint the house black," I imagine she's sitting in her house smoking, wearing a black short dress, sun glasses, black gloves, heels, and a black sun hat and as the little guitar note hits there black paint flying towards the wall in slow motion, changing her wedding dress black, walking around the house sadly, putting her make up on, then looking around the house sadly with the "oh what can I do" and holding her chest as she hits the high note. there's like a another lana who's watching over her and saying "life is beautiful but you don't have a clue" and she's a colorful but has a sad expression towards depressed lana. then singing black beauty and showing like different shots of the house where it was painted black like color fading into black. then as she's singing "black beauty, ahh, black beauty, ahh" she's getting ready to hang her herself and as it seems there are more than one person singin yknow she's about to kick the chair off but she sees colorful lana as the "oh, what can I do," part comes on she watches her sing and has memories of the lost one and as she's singing "black beauty" again the sky turns blue and the house is suddenly filled with like people to stop her and surrounded by family and she looks around confused looking for colorful lana but only to see her walk out of the house wearing the black outfit and smoking.

I love her so much!

She's not quitting music; she said that the last album took so long to perfect, and she wants that with all her albums. I think its good shed go to that much just to make sure her album is as stunning as the rest. It means she plays music, not just for the fans and the media, but also for herself and I think that's important in an artist.

Shades Of Cool and Black Beauty have the same background story of a man who is closed, can't let anything pass through him. He sees everything in dark. She wants to break through his heart with no success. He's her Black Beauty.

I dont really listen to Lana nor am I a fan, but you cannot deny her talent! There is not a single song that I dislike they are all so beautiful.

it annoys me so much, because her less popular songs show her true self and are so beautiful. Her popular songs are amazing too, but her less popular have so much more to offer about herself and each one is completely different and it seems like she has an infinite number of songs. I hate it when people say "im a huge fan of lana del rey!" but they cant name any other song besides like summertime sadness.

I hate to say this but it's May 1st when the album comes out :(

I have only heard a few Lana del Rey songs. I havent heard them all. I know I made my comment sound like I'm a fan. I'm not. I think I will be cause I'm looking up more and more songs. What I wanted to say was that so far all the songs that I've heard from her (5,6,or 7 songs) they are all good. I havent yet found one that I dislike.

This is one of them songs that play on my mind :0

God I love and hate Lana Del Rey I used to be proud of the wide diversity of the music I listened to, some classical, some 1950’s and 60’s, a lot of Sam Cooke, Dylan & Lennon, Stones ,Motown, Prince, REM, Eminem, KOL, etc... but for the last two years all I have listened to is Lana Del Rey, her voice is intoxicating and her lyrics are sublime and thought provoking (by the way Lana please release some of the stuff that I have to listen to on You Tube daily) listening to her music is like drinking fine wine (the more you savoir it the better it is) for god sake Lana keep doing just what you are doing, no matter which name you use

It's honestly kinda a shame this and the other songs were leaked; I wonder what angels forever, JFK, and the rest would've sounded like in their final versions

I really wish she could bring the other songs from this demo to her next albums. They had so much potential, because they are some of my favorite Lana songs. They take on the most raw version of her sound and are so vintage which is why I love them so much

Sir Thach Yep! It was leaked with a couple of other songs. Did you know?: Angels Forever, Forever Angels & JFK were both candidates for Ultraviolence! Most likely, if her computer wasn't hacked, those songs would've probably made it onto the album.
