@@callb I'm not sure what you meant by 'inactive', but the furigana are correct to the readings of the kanji in the sentences used. For people with familiarity with Japanese but who don't read kanji everyday, it's a big help even if you already know the kanji in question, even seeing the first syllable is enough to get you the rest of the way with the word.

@@aspierematch3541 Nothing specific. Albert Camus wrote a number of essays and novels embodying his philosophy, but I don't believe he ever formally codified, "this is my philosophy." He was fond of the Sisyphus metaphor. Absurdism needs to be felt to be understood. I can express it in words, of course, but that somewhat misses the point. In a nutshell, Absurdism stems from existential thought, but rejects existentialism. Existentialism proposes that meaning can be self-authored, whereas Absurdism thinks this just tries to evade the core problem in life -- why bother living at all. Unlike existentialism it also regards life as meaningless but doesn't see this as an inherent problem. Meaning is not a real motivation for living. But like existentialism, Absurdism generally likes the pursuit of the authentically-lived life. Both schools of thought reject externally-derived narratives about purpose. On the surface, you think Stoicism appears similar, but they could not be more opposed, as Stoicism believes you must _conform_ to a "natural purpose" and reject all "externals," which probably would not sit well with Camus, as he was an activist and journalist within his lifetime. @ved2360 I always vibed with absurdism memes or references when I saw them, but now that I see it laid out I think it applies to me. Life doesn't have a meaning, some people might find their own purpose in life but inherently it is meaningless. It's an ongoing accident, but that's fine. That is the natural state. You do what all components of the biological machine do. Just live. DNA's "purpose" isn't even to replicate copies of itself. There's just a lot of machinery on earth doing that because that's what it's good at. It makes more. The closest thing you get to meaning is consequences. What is the purpose for life? None. It's accidental. Day to day you can look to create positive consequences.

fyi Sisyphus did not let go of the rock because carrying the boulder up was his infernal punishment for breaking the natural order of the world to try and cheat death. The deal is - he makes it up, he's free of torment and can go to Asphodel Meadows. I don't remember whether he literally can't let it go or if he'll be torn to shreds by the Furies (that's how Hades the game had it). If Sisyphus could just take a break or was fidning some kind of "enjoyment" in it like the memes say, he'd be switched to something else, like Tantalus who's eternally dying of thirst and hunger while standing in a river under grapes which he cannot drink or eat. He's cursed. The lesson is not to find meaning in a meaningless task, the lesson is to accept death with dignity, even if you are a king.

And like that she finds the answer we joked about in my theatre history class where we covered the myth of Sisyphus as a tangent... if his task is to get the rock up the mountain, and after making it part of the way but losing control, the stone rolls down yet he is still on the mountain less one stone, well the gods punished him to roll a stone up the mountain that goes on forever yet there he stood with no stone to roll up the mountain if they want him to keep rolling a stone up the mountain they will have to provide one otherwise his task is done. A really silly myth considering the whole thing was "Ha you thought you can outsmart the gods! Well here have this impossible task, figure that one out!" Annnnnd done, what's next?
