Disclaimer:
I'm creating highly edited and transformative Videos of Vtubers (mainly Japanese) with English translations and an educational touch for anyone who wants to learn Japanese with their favourite Streamers. My Videos are NOT here to replace the original Streams or VODs but are carefully crafted to offer a transformed new experience for people who don't understand Japanese or want to learn Japanese.
You'll find English translations or Subs in general under Closed Captions for every video. You can turn them on or off on your own accord. Should English not be your first language you can set the Closed Captions to your preferred language and the machine will translate the subs for you as good as possible.
I use Japanese hard subs for a better understanding of the videos if you want to learn Japanese. I use Kanji often and repeatedly to make it easier for you to memorize them.
I'm still learning Japanese and English is not my first language. So if you find any mistakes please tell me politely in the comments so I can make corrections.

I want to make one thing clear here. I'm not a native Japanese speaker. I'm still leaning Japanese like all of you. So the information you find here is knowledge I gathered from the internet and checked with multiple sources. If I couldn't find any sources to back it up I left it out or I will clearly state it. This is the first time I actually translated also English to Japanese. Normally I only translate Japanese to English. So there are probably mistakes or things that could be better phrased. If any correction come up I will add it here. For full disclosure, except it was something very simple, I used machine translations first and then corrected the phrase if necessary and tried to make it sound more natural speak then textbook Japanese. In the hope that the machines dictionary and "perfect" grammar plus human brain get it as good as possible. But again I'm not a native speaker and this is the first time doing this so it won't be perfect. Corrections are welcome. After all this is for Japanese leaning and this includes me. This video is also a trial if this format interests people. So feel free to comment if you liked it or not, what else could be helpful and so on. So I can improve the format for the next uploads. Keep in mind that this video is not only for Japanese learning but also people who just want to enjoy a fun video with English translations. (01) -teiru Adding the verb iru (to be) to the Te-form of a verb turns it into the progressive tense. Meaning something is currently happening or you doing something. It's the -ing form in English. 食べて(tabete) I eat, I will eat (the action hasn't started yet or it's starting now) / 食べている (tabete iru) I'm eating (the action has started already and it's still going on) 飲んで (nonde) I drink, I will drink / 飲んでいる (nonde iru) I'm drinking It's also being used if the action is a habit that is repeated regulary even if it is not happening right now 毎日日本語を勉強している (mainichi nihongo wo benkyou shite iru) I'm studying Japanese every day (Even if you study not right now at that moment, it's still a continuous action and you use the -teiru form.) Important: There is a shortened form that is often used in speak. When speaking the i in iru is often left out 食べている (tabete iru) will turn into 食べてる (tabeteru) 飲んでいる (nonde iru) -> 飲んでる (nonderu) You can conjugate the teiru form into past with teita or to negative with inai, imasen and past negative inakatta, imasendeshita 食べていた (tabete ita) I was eating / 食べていない (tabete inai) I'm not eating / 食べていなかった (tabete inakatta) I wasn't eating Timestamps for examples in the video: 1:03 2:16 9:41 9:50 10:27 13:47 22:18 22:43 27:38 28:05 28:52 30:50 31:08 32:58 36:39 (03) -hougaii Hougaii is like a suggestion. You should do something or It's better to do something. And it's used after the past form of verb (I don't know why past). パーティーに行った方がいい (paatii ni itta hougaii) You should go to the party! 休みを取ったほうがいい (yasumi wo totta hougaii) You should take a break! Timestamps for Examples in the video: 9:22 21:46 The issue with translating softwares, if you phrase it with should, you almost everytime get the word beki as result. What I learned is beki is a very strong should more a must or I ask you politely but you don't really have another choice. As example a mother telling her child 野菜を食べるべきだ (yasui wo taberu beki da) You should eat your vegetables. You also can use it to adress something you yourself should/must do. 痩せるべき (yaseru beki) I should lose some weight! (14) hazuda Hazuda means should be / must be as in an expectation. 彼は仕事中であるはずだ (kare wa shigoto de aru hazuda) He should be at work. The expectation here is that at this time of the day he is at work. Like in the example above you use it after the dictionary form of a verb, after a noun + no, an I adjective or an Na adjective + na ダークソウルは難しいゲームであるはずだ (daaku souru wa muzukashii geemu de aru hazuda) Dark Souls should be a difficult game! (or is supposed to be a difficult game) ダークソウルのはずだ (daaku souru no hazuda) This should be Dark Souls or This has to be Dark Souls. ダークソウルは難しいはずだ (daaku souru wa muzukashii hazuda) Dark Souls should be difficult! ダークソウルは有名なはずだ (daaku souru wa yuumeina hazuda) Dark Souls should be famous or is supposedly famous. Timestamps for Examples in the video: 23:07 (04) -tai / (13) -miru, -mitai / (15) hoshii / (11) mitai I want to explain this four points in one section so you can hopefully understand the differences after the explabation. (04) You add -tai after the masu form to say you want to do something. リンゴ食べたい (ringo tabetai) I want to eat an apple. 日本語をはなしたい (nihongo wo hanashitai) I want to speak Japanese. The negative form is -takunai, the past form is -takatta, the negative past form is -takunakatta Timestamps for examples in the video: 9:25 21:55 (15) So -tai means want to do while hoshii means to want. -tai always follow a verb, while hoshii stands alone and the rest of the sentence explains what you want. 星が欲しい (hoshi ga hoshii) I want a star. りんごがほしい (ringo ga hishii) "I want an apple" in contrast to ringo wo tabetai. Which means "I want to eat an apple." リンゴ食べるほしい (ringo taberu hoshii) If you use it like this it would translate into "I want YOU to eat an apple Timestamps for examples in the video: 19:55 27:53 (13) -miru If you add -miru after the te-form of a verb you say I'm gonna try something. リンゴを食べてみる (ringo wo tabete miru) Try the apple or try eating the apple. 日本語を話してみる (nihongo wo hanashite miru) Try speaking Japanese You can conjugate -miru like the verb miru (to see). This also includes adding suffixes like -tai, which turns into -mitai and means "I want to try!" 日本語を話してみたい (nihongo wo hanashite mitai) I want to try speaking Japanese Timestamps for examples in the video: 22:02 Please don't confuse it with (11) mitai which means looks like, seems like. りんごみたい (ringo mitai) It looks like an apple. The want to try -mitai always comes after the Te-form of a verb, while the looks like mitai isn't bound to a specific form of a verb. See the difference: りんごをたべてみたい (ringo wo tabeTE mitai) I want to try an apple りんごをたべるみたい (ringo wo tabeRU mitai) It is like eating an apple Timestamps for examples in the video: 17:22 22:00 More in the replay

    (10) -shikanai / (05) hitsuyou ga aru / (16) -nakereba naranai (nakya) All three of them mean have to do, must do or need to do so we look at them in one section instead of separately. (10) -shikanai means there is no other choice then doing this. Or I have to do it because I'm out of options. You use shikanai after the dictionary form of a verb. 冷やして食べるしかない (hiyashite taberu shikanai) I have to eat it cold (because there is no way to warm it up). So there is no other choice but to eat it cold. バスに乗るしかない (basu ni noru shikanai) I have to take the bus (because my car broke down). So there is no other choice but to take the bus. Timestamps for examples in the video: 14:05 21:02 (05) Using hitsuyou ga aru means need to do or it is necessery to do. It is used afte the dictionary form of a verb. ファイルを開くにはコンピュータを起動する必要があります(Fairu wo hiraku ni wa konpyuuta o kidou suru hitsuyou ga arimasu) To open the file you need to start the computer. 勉強する必要がある (benkyou suru hitsuyou ga aru) I need to study. Like; it is necessary to study to pass the exame. Timestamps for examples in the video: 9:33 (16) Using -nakereba naranai means have to or must do. Because it's a mouth full in speak you often hear it shortened to -nakya or -nakucha if you want to sound cute. Both are used afte the nai-form of any verb. 法律に従わなければならない (Houritsu ni shitagawa nakereba naranai) We have to follow the law! 家に帰らなきゃ (uchi ni kaera nakya) I have to go home (because my mother told me so) Timestamps for examples in the video: 28:01 So you see all three have a similar meaning but the reason why you have to do something may change which one is better or more fitting to use. We have to follow the law or we go to prison (nakya) / I don't want to go to prison so I have no other choice but following the law (shikanai) / It's necessary to follow the law if you want to avoid prison (hitsuyou ga aru) (02) kamo / Kamoshirenai This expressions adds that there is a possibility something is gonna be happen or something is true, a good possibilty but not a certainty. In English it would be may, might, perhabs and indicates a guess. Kamoshirenai is used direcetly after a casual phrase but not a polite phrase (desu or masu ending). It can be attached right after nouns, verbs and adjective. 先生かもしれない (Sensei kamoshirenai) He might be a teacher! 雨がふるかもしれない (Ame ga furu kamoshirenai) It might rain! 難しいかもしれない (muzukashii kamoshirenai) This might be difficult! In a casual conversation with a friend you can leave the shirenai away and just say kamo Timestamps for examples in the video: 9:17 22:05 33:14 (09) soretomo You can use soretomo if there is a choice between two options. It translates to or. 車か、それとも電車で行くか (Kuruma ka, soretomo densha de iku ka) Will you go with the car or the train? KZreadはデスクトップか、それともスマートフォンで見ますか (KZread wa desuku toppu ka, soretomo sumaatofon de mimasu ka) Do you watch KZread on your Desktop or Smartphone. Timestamps for examples in the video: 10:56

Dude, I dunno if KZread fixed the bug and if you can see this comment or not, but all of the work you do with your clips and now all of these explanations you've added is phenomenal. Learning Japanese is hard and by making clips that make funny vtuber moments educational and a source of language immersion is nothing short of amazing. You're doing God's work, thank you for your efforts. 🙏 This channel is highly underrated. ❤
