What is the name of the other striped fish in the tanktank?

Nice setup bro. I recently rescued a pair of Cylindricus and they reside with a group of 6 synodontis catfish. The guy I rescued them from had them for years and told me the catfish are the only tankmates he could keep with them that the 2 would tolerate. They pretty much destroyed everything in his Tanganyikan tank. I was a little worried putting all of them in one of my 20 long quarantine tanks when I was adding a 55 gallon to my fishroom for their new home, but it actually worked out perfect. The 2 Cylindricus even now in the 55 are frequently found hanging out with the catfish. Awesome little fish for sure. Thanks for sharing your content.

Are they a pair? They can be vicious towards one another and other Lamps especially if they've paired up. Putting cichlids with non cichlids is always a great way to go as they tend to pick on non cichlids less. Besides Synodontis catfish can defend themselves easily by using their spines, whiskers, and body to slap other fish into shape. My Cylindricus is now at the bottom of the totem pole so to speak and the Tret is at the top. Hard to believe but it's kind of nice that he/she is not constantly chasing the other cichlids around as he/she used to when I first introduced them. Anyway, thanks for the comment.

@@buildanaquariumworkshop8333 yes definitely a pair. The guy I rescued them from said they've been together for about 3 years and the catfish in with them for at least a couple. The catfish look to be a couple different generations leading me to believe they were breeding at some point.

Thanks and yes, I ordered these from The Wetspot Tropical fish located in Portland, Oregon. I don't have a local store that carries these fish so I have to order online. Thanks for the question. Happy fish keeping!

@@buildanaquariumworkshop8333 Thanks for taking the time out to reply. I've ordered from wetspot in the past but the fish I got were not that nice. I might have to give them another try.

Could I possibly keep cylindricus with caudopunctatus in a 300L tank?

Should be no problem. I kept L. Leleupi with a few N. Caudopunctatus in a smaller aquarium without any problems. The Cuadopunctatus as I recall spent much of their time in the open water. L. Cylindricus likes to stay close to the rocks. Keep plenty of rocks and have both rocky areas and open areas. Good luck!
