The 5.0 has that magic extra tone that the 5.2 doesnt have. The 5.2 is more agressive, but the 5.0 has that beautiful V10 tone that the LFA has as well. Like a crying dark force, so beautifull

A friend of my father’s back in the day had a red gallardo 5.0. He always made this joke to the 5.2 owners, he’d say “you bought the wrong gallardo fool!” And now I know what he meant by this

The 5.0 is a Lamborghini developed engine. This engine has its origins in two concept cars made by Lamborghini, the 1988 P140 and the 1995 Calà. Both were equipped with engines having a 3.9 litre displacement. In the early 2000s Lamborghini resumed the project with help from Audi, and the engine was redesigned for the Gallardo by increasing its displacement. The 5.2 is an Audi developed engine, based on the Audi 4.2 V8. The early version found in the S6 and S8, had a split-pin crankshaft like the Lamborghini V10, giving the early 5.2's an even firing order. The 5.0 bi-turbo V10 in the RS6 was a destroked version of this early 5.2. The later Audi 5.2 V10 found in the R8 and Gallardo, would return to a simpler common-pin crankshaft like the Audi 4.2 V8, thereby giving it the uneven firing order. Lamborghinis own 5.0 had gotten the Gallardo of the ground in 2003. But by the mid/late-00's, with a fully developed V10 of their own, It made more sense for Audi AG to use their V10 engine in the Gallardo. The Lamborghini 5.0 was discontinued in 2008, and the Audi 5.2 V10 introduced the same year in the Audi R8 and facelifted Gallardo. The Audi 5.2 V10 engine is still used in the Huracán today, - and soon the Huracán exclusively. I personaly like the sound of an even-firing V10 better. Uneven firing makes an engine sound heavier at top rpm, and rougher in the middle. Which I don't think suits the high hot-headed tone of a V10.

The C6 Audi S6 5.2 V10 as well as the D3 S8 is actually a stroked version of the even firing 5.0 Lamborghini V10 and not the 5.2 FSI unit we see today. The sound is very distinct and instantly recognizable for its high pitched and more refined sound. Later Audi V10s were the uneven firing FSI engines but not those.

Aww man. I'm getting a bit emotional cos of the nostalgia with the 5.0L Gallardo's sound. I used to love that car and still do. I used to play with that car in Need for Speed and I loved it. I was really young back then as well.

5 litres for me! It's more organic. The whole car is just more natural too. I like the looks better. I've experienced my one and only supercar drive in a Gallardo 5.0 V10 Spyder. 40 minutes of glory!

Same here, only Lamborghini I experienced was a Gallardo 1st Gen Spyder with E-Gear. One of the best memories ever. 👀

'04 all the way. And yellow. With those wheels. The iconic Gallardo all day.

5.0 actually has an EVEN firing interval. (72 deg firing interval with the 90 deg vee-angle) 5.2 has uneven firing interval. (uneven firing interval of either 54 deg or 90 deg separation)

It always sounded different lowkey I’m in love with the older gallardos that sound never gets old 😂😂😂

5.0 is best 🤩

5.0 NA and BiTurbo have a much more beautiful snore. The 5.2 has more Audi sound (I know it shares the engine with the R8)

@@ssxxszs6570 It is popular to convert LP500 Gallardo to have LP560 headlamps, brakelamps, spoiler, hood, etc. It is also cosmetically-appealing to convert parking brake handle/bezel around e-gear/door handles to carbon fiber, and steering wheel/seats in alcantara, to modernize the interior

A smooth , uniform sound is always more pleasing to the ear than an interrupted pulsing sound. Add harmonics to the smooth sound and you have good sounding car. Some people have a nostalgic affinity to harsher uneven sounds but that's wrong and I hate them 🤣

I think even firing engines sound better overall but odd fires have their place too. Think mustang and viper

5.0L even firing order sounds more like an F1 V10. The 5.2L sounds more like an Audi 5 cylinder engine.

The 5.0 or the even firing motor produces a much smoother sound the 5.2 don’t sound as easy on the ears I mean it might be sounding good but it won’t have the same effect the 5.0 had

Sounds like an LFA and the Carrara GT and I think the 5.0 engine should of stayed until the Gallardo was discontinued/retired

5:10 in this short clip, we actually see two gallardos, one with twin turbos attachted to it.

I really don't get this. If you open up the self-study program for Audi's 5.2 TFSI engine, it CLEARLY states that it's an even-firing engine, since it has a split-pin offset by 18 degrees, there's even sketches and illustrations of it and everything. But everywhere else you go, it's the other way around? Search "5.2 tfsi 923603" on google and read the PDF.

5.0 L is the best sounding and looking. It’s not just unmistakably Lamborghini, it’s unmistakably GALLARDO.

The Gallardo came out before the lfa so the lfa sounds like a 5.0 gallardo

@@55Berg It took me 6 months to realize Lamborghini used a different exhaust set up later in the 5.0's lifetime to make it sound like an odd firing engine. If you put an aftermarket exhaust on, you can get the even firing sound back

there unique in their own way. I love the sound of the 5.2 it sounds really aggressive and I love the deep tone but then there's the 5.0 with that screaming tone at high rpms. Would also love to see a 5.0 with LP body panels and lights as I am a bigger fan of the LP looks

The scream of the 5.0 is was more appealing to me than the low growl of the 5.2 to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

My question is why do some 1st gens sound deeper than others ( looking for the high pitched sound)

As someone who worked on both of them... wrong. Same block, part of internals and exhaust manifold are different.

5.0= exotic notes 5.2= modern notes the 2008-13 gallardo looks more exotic than the OG ('03-07) gallardo but lacks on the heart. sounds meh. and so, the 2003-2007 gallardo looks even better than it's updated one.
