Eh. If the Lakers have Kawhi, they probably still win in 2020 and they don't trade for Westbrook. So it's a wash in the end.

@Uncutslots your not in for much then he already is an older rookie he most likely has limited upside but can probably come in and have some value immediately. The fact that the lakers continue to fail to upgrade the 2 and 3 position with 3 and D guys means Rob has to be fired.. Morey would of got someone.. Rob sucks.

No one want see that A big franchise with a bunch of money and a good place to live(to rich people). Stars want to go there so I think it’s just teams are sick of it! Fans are going to blame the coach and players for losses and poor play. Especially in the heat of a game and the aftermath of a loss. And Darvin wasn't going to make anyone forget Pat Riley or PJ. But the blather from people claiming that the roster is championship caliber is delusional. It's a very flawed roster, and that's on management. It won't be fixed by drawing up plays and post-game interview skills. I don't give a rat's rear about "winning the press conference." Rather have Boomhauser from King of The Hill and the better team.

Man, This fanbase soft as hell. We don't need this version of Klay Thompson on the Lakers. Seems apparent that players are having doubts about playing for the Lakers with all the circus sideshows that come with the organization. I don't think it's just Rob Pelinka, it's Lebron and them signing JJ as the head coach that is making players and their agents really question if the Lakers is a place that they would want to go. The Lakers track record when it comes to head coaches, signing players, and trade talk hasn't been very good and it shows everyone in the league that the Lakers lack any stability or consistency, that's why they are more willing to look at other teams as better destinations to play.

LOL. I knew this would happen plus Klay wasn’t the win all answer. Here is the outlook: the marketplace is tight with heavyweight teams being tight and cutting payroll to get under the salary cap, and lower tier FA’s taking the most $$ offer like CP. It’s a market place where the lower tier players are grabbing the largest offer available and top tier free agents not getting max offers. Since the Lakers can’t offer much except the MLE, the Lakers are going to snap up lower tier and older free agents. Most likely FA’s the Lakers end up with: Demar who wants to play in LA and Westbrook who may take a vet min to get out of boredom. The upper tier FA’s are gone. Either fire sale or invest in young players for the post LBJ era. Outlook for the FO: Rob will take a GM job elsewhere maybe the Clippers after Frank leaves the Clips. After three years of mediocrity, JJ moves to the FO as GM.

Klay was offered more money from the Mavericks, to tell you the truth Lakers will be better off without him, he’s 35 and signed a 3 year deal for 50 million and he doesn’t play any defense whatsoever, he would of been a decent pick up off the bench, the Lakers would be better off getting Derozan who is a better overall player just not a 3 point shooter and I heard Gary Trent is a possibility he would be excellent 2nd choice and he’s actually a good defender 😁😎

I completely agree that we need a 5 rather than Klay Thompson. However, it would be great to get a 5 that can shoot the 3-pointer like Klay. Look no further than trading for Kelly Olynyk. He is shooting around 39% from 3-point range, and he is also 6'11" and weighs 240 lbs. Look at his per-100 possessions stats. The guy is a perfect fit for the Lakers and has a contract for $12.8 million. I'd happily trade Gabe and Wood or just trade Wood plus the MLE for Olynyk. You could throw in a guy like JHS if they want a younger player. The Lakers would gain a roster spot and save $1.2 million if they trade Gabe and Wood. Throw in some 2nd round picks to get the deal done. The Lakers really need a Center and also good 3-point shooting. Olynyk has a career of being able to fill both needs. He's shot 39% from 3-point range for 3 of the last 4 seasons, and he could play as a backup Center or as a Forward with AD on the floor.

  • @J-vn5jd

    @J-vn5jd

    Күн бұрын

By the way, Olynyk has a career average of 8 rebounds per 36 minutes. I'll take that! He also has a career average of 4 assists per 36 minutes. Again, I'll take that! Olynyk has played an average of around 23 minutes per game for his career, but that's a solid number for a backup Center/Forward. He's also averaged around 70 games per season for his career. That means he is reliable. Again, I'll take that!

Maybe if Bron is willing to take a cut in pay, he'll also be willing to take a cut in his minutes. Obviously, the formula of Bron-dominant play isn't working at this stage. Hopefully Bron & JJ can see the light, put their friendship/egos aside (not holding my breath) & limit Bron's minutes significantly....if they lose a few games (or a lot) b/o it, so be it. Not worth putting a 40 yr old at higher risk for significant injury when it ultimately doesn't change the final outcome. At this miserable point, may be best to just enter a quasi-rebuild for this team. Knowing we have no chance in winning (unless we land a miraculous Markkanen deal), I'd actually prefer seeing some of the younger players get more consistent playing time...rather see them build confidence/consistency through some struggle than see 40 minutes of an aging Bron increasing his turnover rate & providing little D because he's almost 40. Looking forward to Knecht making an imprint on this team for "years" to come...this boy has grit, great motor & always has something to prove, which isn't always the case for AD...JMO.

It is not Rob I think is the whole problem, On top of the new CBA rules, it is the fact that, except for the lakers, many of these other teams just doesn't like the Lakers for them to help them win. Also, I might be wrong here, however it is still a possibility, they might be considering taking the risk of Colin Castleton being their back up C, I mean he is already 24, and if what the says are true, he improved his shooting. Additionally, I think it's fine to run it back. Afterall, it might be the same cards, but we do have a different card player with JJ because Ham was not it and our players really need to stay healthy. Gabe would have been nice to have if he was available the whole season, and Vando could have helped us alot if he was playing last post season, same goes with Christian Wood. Ham as a HC, on the other hand, can't adjust outside of his box. I just hope JJ is better.

Klay Thompson is an older version of DLO. A 3 point inconsistent shooter who if their shots aren’t falling they are defensive liabilities. I guess nobody Remembers the in season tournament games that GSW played right? Klay scored ZERO points 0/10 FG 0/6 3pts. Absolutely choked in that game. That’s concerning for putting all your hopes and dreams into a player who is injury prone and will be 38 years old when their contract expires. Yes Rob and Jeanie need to do something but for me Thompson wasn’t it! My opinion may not be yours. Plus glad they didn’t send trade pieces to the Warriors like Klay and his agent is trying to get Dallas to do. Tried of the GSW vs Lakers fake rivalry anyway.

LA could be Kuzma 80M 3y, KCP 120M 4y, Caruso 55M 4y, Lebron 100M 2y, AD 180M 4y, Zubac 30M / 4y and still have Gabe, Vando Rui, TP and Wood. Jeannie just had to be willing to pay the luxury tax. It's actually fairly simple. If you trade for a player you trade for them with their bird rights. When you acquire them in free agency you have to give them a contract that is long enough to get you at least early bird rights if you want to retain them. Since LA gives free agents 1 year or 1+1 contracts, they lose their free agents if they work out for them. They also always try to package up the projects there worked out for them for a need that doesn't really exist. If you keep KCP you don't need a wing defender and Beasley. You have KCP. If you pay the tax and keep Caruso you have another championship now and you don't wonder whether to trade Reaves or Rui to get some defense and you for damn sure aren't looking to move D'Lo, because he is exactly what we always wanted. Low turnovers. Great shooting. Spaces the floor so AD can operate and you leave room for Lebron. If they had him Boston might still have won this year, but not Denver and Reaves would be a 6th man of the year if he weren't chasing Murray around and bricking his 3s while doing nothing to Jamal. So the way to get a team together is by retaining your good role players and giving them long running contracts. With bird rights you can go over the cap to retain them. So you use your tpmle or room exception, then you get the free agents you like and you only trade if you get a better fit plus assets. Then you extend your guys going over the cap. Bird rights is how it's done. Alex who? Oh we can replace him. Zubac said something about playing with AD, lol. Sent him out for nothing or like a rental shooter or whatever. McGee? Don't need him. Howard? Please. KCP? Too inconsistent for 12M. Kuzma? Yeah no thanks. Trez who? Rondo on a min vet? Pfff. Howard? Who needs him? Oh you know what this team is missing? Caruso, KCP, Zubac and Howard, maybe Kuzma? Let's now trade D'Lo and Reaves. You know what we will miss then? D'Lo, Reaves, Caruso, KCP, Kuzma, Howard and Zubac.

All I'm gonna say is there is absolutely NO WAY you can justify going into the season with the same exact roster. There just isn't. It's clear as day as we've seen two straight years the roster just is not good enough. I'm not saying we better get a star or else but atleast get a BIG which this team desperately needs to backup/ play alongside AD in matchups like against Jokic. Robs gotta be on the heat seat or close to it because us missing out on big names/ not making moves etc is a bad bad look. Also what's worse of a look? The fact we did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING at the trade deadline and the reasoning was "were gonna Have 3 tradeable picks to potentially make a big move for and to use to improve " paraphrasing but they basically got us all hyped for this summer with what they said after trade deadline passed. You can't follow up that with doing nothing and expect to not get blamed and torn to shreds. In my head the way the Lakers salvage this and turn this into us being very happy about heading into the season and putting together a roster we feel has a legitimate chance to compete for a chip or atleast be way better than we are currently is this. Get Demar. Then get Jerami Grant or Cam Johnson to add shooting, floor spacing. A starting 5 of Reaves Derozan Grant/Cam Johnson Bron AD Is one im feeling really good about and one that'd be among the best starting 5's in league. Ik the fit with Demar might not be perfect which is why you need to add shooting /spacing. If Demar takes Mid level then we can trade for grant. Now if it's a sign in trade Demar wants for more money then maybe you loop a third team such as the nets into it and flip DLO for Cam Johnson in that case instead of Grant due to the money. Either way we have to do something

The market is so bad, not a fan of these "targets" anyways. But now everyone's going to overreact and want to force a trade even more. Teams hold on to their players because more want to contend and win now, also for players looking to get paid tax matters especially if there's offers with similar pay. True contender pieces that really improve a team are 3+D role players anyways and there's not enough to go around. Teams are just fighting over bottom of the barrel scraps (usually not good enough defense or floor stretching) on the market and players get older while less teams develop players. It's not a coincidence OKC has a great roster and is a top contender even if they didn't plan to at this time. Cp3 is freaking 39 and still a desirable 3+D PG due to his skillset that can give you limited quality minutes depending on the contract while factoring in availability and injuries. Need to develop players, even just 1-2 years in the g-league can get the new rookies closer to being playable while not taking up season minutes. Even the CBA is now more favoring developing players compared to before. Which is why I don't think there's a trade out there that will significantly improve the contending chances. Rather than that I'm way more interested for summer league and checking out JHS and Castletons progress. Role wise they're exactly what we need, but it's uncertain if they're playable. Yes it sucks that there's no major improvements team wise, but there's still interesting stuff with potential upside going on with Max, Knecht and JJ. Oh and prior seasons and trade deadlines have shown 3x superstars is ass and i don't think it's a coincidence that teams overdemand from lakers considering "win now, Lebron's championship window", and "Lakers don't develop, we trade" mentality (at least I see this constantly from fans), and with the players we do get? Every season it's trade em all, all bums. This season? The best playable players in the playoffs were Lebron, AD, AR, Prince. AR was a 2-way that we developed. Everyone else injured or played off the floor. This is the result of playable playoff players from the past few "win now" seasons? Maybe time to reevaluate based on what has been working and what hasn't.

How does GS make something out of nothing? Did it with Durrant and got Wiggons and a ring.

Lebron manipulated this situation as usual. Seems like the Lakers were trying to develop players long term and planning for life after Lebron. So he changed the narrative and stuck it to his own team (again).

Just develop in house. We can’t land a third player to help LeBron and A.D. Rob needs to pick it up. Maybe we take a step being together another year. It’s our most realistic option. We’re not getting the players we need to contend.

Yep, but hard to develop in a house of cards. It will only work if Bron is no longer the foundation & JJ not being his yes-man.

We definitely didn't "miss out" on Klay. He's a hall of famer but at this point he's slow, his shot is not what it once was, and he doesn't fill a hole on the roster.

Wow @Lakers GM & Front Office really looks Bad when it comes to Negotiating for Elite Championship Star Caliber Pieces THEY CAN’T GET IT DONE. It’s proven itself time & time again. Star Elite LeBron is there because of Magic. Star Elite AD is there because of Magic & LeBron. There are no Star Elites acquired by Rob & Front Office NOT GOOD!!!! It’s not because of the Franchise / Organization because Jerry Buss did a GREAT job establishing and Building such a great organization. RATHER, it’s those who are running it, those who are in operation of it. That’s the REAL problem not the Franchise / Organization because again Jerry Buss did an Excellent job building the Best Franchise in Basketball and one of the Best Francises in Sports. Kudos to Jerry Buss for that. Unfortunately, those that are currently running it and operating it, haven’t been able to Negotiate and Land Star Elite Championship Caliber Players. Magic Johnson who was raised up and build up by Jerry Buss whom he calls his dad and Jerry Buss considered him as a son was the only one who was able to Land the two Big Fish’s in LeBron & AD. Gotta get the right workable people in office / in place to keep Jerry’s legacy alive and going strong. If not, all his hard work of building and establishing such a great Franchise will just continue to crumble. Jerry, Kobe and Magic are all about Championships as well as all the other @Laker greats, players and fans. These guys could get things done and accomplished. Players wanted to come and they never considered going to any other team. You have LeBron & AD that I know Elite Star guys wanted to play with them and still does, But the current GM & F.O. just can’t get the job done. They never can. 💜💛

Lakers offered Clay $80 million for 4 years (i saw it online; not confirmed), that would have covered CA taxes and more than the 3 year $50 million from Dallas. He just did not want to be a Laker.

Would it be great to make upgrades? Of course. But the Lakers have enough to win a championship right now. They just need Vando and the stars to stay healthy. They also need a coach that knows how to maintain the flow of the game going and keeo right players on the floor in the right situations.
