She isn't dolled up in some dopey costume. She isn't revealing her body for shock value. For the most part, she's sitting on a chair in a tee shirt & ripped jeans and she isn't miming. She even yanked out her earpiece out after slightly bumming a note. That's what we need more of. Real and raw. Better than pretentious, ostentatious, half-naked performers that can't even sing without lip-syncing to backing tracks. Pretty obvious really...

You sang this as always beautifully. Much love and support ❤️. I needed a song like this, cause I'm not doing very well without my father. 😢

I remember when Gaga first appeared in mainstream, many thought she was a flash in the pan. This woman is incredibly creative, powerful, inspirational, and has a voice that transcends most distinguished pop icons of our era. What I love most is that she did a total 180, no makeup, no extravagant designer pieces, to give us the woman she is deep down. There is so much beauty in the raw, and we need more people to realize that in the polished “everything has to be polished” pop culture.

Annnnd you bought it. Just like you bought that who she was next to Tony bennet was who she really was, just like you bought that when she wore the meat dress she was being who she truly was. I don’t know what’s worse the fact that she can’t pick something and make it stick or that the fans grab a hold of every one of her gimmicks like it’s her best and truest self ever!

She’s just so stunning in every sense of the word!

The fact she did the opposite of what everyone thought she would do is why she's simply one of the greatest in my eyes. It was stripped back and shot so beautifully/intimately like her 'Shallow' performance with Bradley Cooper in 2019. It's tasteful and sophisticated. The girls who get it, get it! I absolutely loved this.

Lady Gaga is a true inspiration, and I'm in awe of her ability to connect with her audience on such a deep level.

I really love the fact how she came on the stage. So real and grounded.. no heavy makeup , no branded clothes...maybe this is the way she performed at her home basement studio. She is still wearing makeup lol. It being light and looking natural is just the work of a good makeup artist. She’s literally wearing false lashes and mascara.

You can see in this clip she’s giving her all. Without makeup, without the fancy smancy stuff. Just a microphone, piano, guitar and her vocals. Absolutely fantastic!

She doesn’t need anything to be iconic, just her and her talent.

She proves time and time again. You don’t NEED a huge set and stage production to give a performance that’s an added show baby. She is talent.

@@agstinacueva1673 As much as The Fame And The Fame Monster got me thru adolescence I think much of her earlier music was more her expressing herself and her pain, and also just a lot of fun dancer pop bangers of course, often with uplifting lyrics too but I think lately more than ever the music she’s written just feels like it’s made more with the intention of speaking very directly to people and delivering a clear, positive message that can reach a lot of people. Ever since Million Reasons, Til It Happens To You, and the whole Joanne era her music is more like this. Born This Way was too but more electronic and too “weird” as a whole for as much mainstream appeal as something like this may have with the stripped down production

I think this performance is a perfect example of this year's Oscars. It was stripped back to classic Oscar's...raw, emotional, and real.

Sometimes we don't feel like it - we don't feel the glam, the hairspray, the make up. We don't feel like anything at all. Sometimes we just want to yell it into the universe and feel it bounce back right into our hearts, our spirits.

“You can be your own hero even if you feel broken inside”. best quote from Gaga 😢 sing it all over and over again even the lyrics struck me

I just lost my husband of 30 years in January to cancer. I was with him in the room. Just like my life started when I married him, a piece of my heart left with him. This song, the rawness of her performance spoke to my aching heart. THANK YOU, Lady Gaga. 🥺

She can easily morph from super-glammed Lady Gaga to ordinary "Joanne" from the lower East Side --- that's why people love her

The original song is super hard to sing entirely without being exhausted and I wondered how she could perform such a demanding song each time with only perfect notes. Here she tried another way to sing it to be sure to nailed the end no matter what. This is what great performers do, they know how to improvise and maintain quality thourough every song for 3 hours long.

I’m not even a fan, but man it’s impossible not to be drawn into the purity of her emotion. Such a massive talent. Seriously. There are a handful of women on the planet who can do what Lady Gaga does. None of them with the pain of existence rubbed into them like this young lady. Remarkable.

It's interesting how in the original version of Hold My Hand she sang "but don't you give up on yourself" while in this live version she changed the lyrics and sang "One time i gave up on myself" it really feels like she wanted to encourage herself to move on when she wrote this song (many of you probably don't know but Gaga had a lot of problems with chronic pain and depression years ago). She's such a valuable artist and person, I hope she knows this.

The range of that voice is one of kind

This is why I love her and I love how she’s finally showing this side of herself

The bigger her career becomes, the better her voice gets! What a POWERFUL vocalist.

I LOVE that she chose to perform as her natural self. A simple yet powerful performance. And no lip syncing!

That last line she says about being your own hero right before she starts singing is exactly what I feel when I listen to this. I listen to it and think back to the bad times in my childhood (had a lot of childhood trauma) and hold my inner childs hand. I cannot put into words the difference this song has made in my life in just one year. Music is powerful but it is more than that in this song, but the emotion and feeling she put in this song is palpable and very profound!

Such a beautiful sing and voice!!!

Literally EVERY time I repeat this song my entire skin shows up how much feeling does this song convey.

One week after my little sister died I was just leaving for work, I started my truck and the radio was blasting; this song had just started to play and as I was driving I felt my sisters presence, so reached over to the passenger seat and held my hand out so my sister could hold it. I often feel my deceased wife's presence next to me and sometimes reach out and imagine holding her hand when walking down a street, as we used to do. I had not thought of Steph's song in this context, so I deeply thank you for this insight. I suspect she is singing about, or at least was influenced by, her relationship with Joanne, her father's deceased sister. The bodies of our loved ones die, obviously, but their spirit presence, which gave life to their bodies, lives on forever; as does our love. 🙏
