As a figure skater I can say that many people don’t understand and recognize how challenging this sport is most people think that it is just like dancing on ice but it is so much more than that

I’m from Argentina and I do this sport but our ice rinks are SOOOO small so we don’t have many chances. Don’t worry, someday you could try it!

My country has only one Olympic sized rink and one really small rink that doesn’t really have quality ice. And the Olympic sized rink is sooo far from my house that if I’m lucky I reach there in 45 minutes (that is the fastest time I could get to the rink by car)

The reason I got into figure skating because of the coco game and also watching it on the Olympics. Also might I add, this sport isn't all about your moves but it determines your pain levels and grace. Because both your outfit and dance along with the music have a certain purpose.

i want to be a figure skater so bad! i love it so much, when i was a child i watched figure skating all the time! i want to start with figure skating but my mom won’t let me...”it’s too late, you’re going to broke your ankles..no.” i don’t want to give up, but i’m losing hope. but this video gave me a little hope so...i’m not going to give up yet :,)

Try figure roller skating! It is not exactly the same thing, but it was the closest i could find since we don't have a lot of ice rinks in brazil ;)

Even if you have to start out with a pair of cheap skates follow that dream. You don’t need anything fancy to skate. You just need some leggings and a shirt.

animation fan roller blading is really similar to ice skating. There are a few differences (like friction and the toe pick) but I’ve been rollerblading for a really long time and have only been ice skating about three times. I didn’t have a very hard time on ice.

Me too, that's why I just do inline skating, it's not the same but still something

I've been running for all my life, I'm now 17 and fallen out of running long distance. I admire people who ice skate and I want to start figure skating and become great at it but sadly I love in the Caribbean. I just feel like ice skating would be my natural talent but I don't have the resources...

I did this for two and half years then quit but I might be going back ☺️

Ahh everyone in these youtube vids has the ice rink for themselves, but the only one near where I live is always busy, and when it's not, the ice is terrible (they don't clean the ice a lot when there's almost no one on it)

iClaimThisName Actually, they don't have the rink all to themselves. They share it with other competitors, but it's a special session for practicing figure skating. Public sessions on the other hand are always very busy. If you start learning figure skating and your rink supports it then you'll be able to do the private session and it won't be as crazy (but it's a little scarier bc everyone is usually practicing moves or programs aha)

Oh my God so I went to this public skate last week after having club ice for months and these kids were following me around and getting in the way of my jumps, and I'm just over here like Wha What kind of backwards logic is that if you want to see a jump than you can't just skate right in front of me before I take off wtf

Not always. There are many relatively poor families who sacrifice nearly everything for one of their children (e.g. Denis Ten's), and not all families are as loving as others (e.g. Tonya Harding's). These skaters are lucky in the sense that they've made it this far through whatever life they have been given, though.
