Ladder Leveling

In today's video I am going to show you how to level a ladder properly with adjustable feet. If anyone has used a ladder you know that most terrain we plant our ladders on are uneven. Ladders with regular feet that you can't adjust can be very limiting and dangerous when working because the ground we work on is uneven most of the time. Follow along to make sure you are levelling your ladder properly and help make a safe work environment.
Pro Tip: Once the Ladder is set hop on the bottom rung and bounce the ladder off the wall you are leaned against. If the ladder remains square as you pull and bounce it off the wall then your ladder isn't going to slide left or right and put you on the ground with a potentially serious injury. Never skip this step it may just save your life.
The Steps:
1- Lay your ladder against the wall you need to climb
2- Pull Ladder off wall and stand on feet and raise them all the way up.
3- Adjust height of the ladder now to where you need to be on the wall and then lean the ladder against the wall
4- Check top of ladder for rocking, look to make sure the ladder is planted square at the top of the ladder. If the ladder is square then you can move on to the bounce test, if not then the feet of the ladder must be levelled.
5- Make sure the top of your ladder is laying square against the building, once this achieved put your hand on the bottom rung of the ladder and pull up making the tabs on the side able to release. With this upward force on the bottom rung go to the left or right side of your adjustable feet and lower the side that will bring your ladder into level formation with the ground by pushing down on that tab. The weight of the ladder will level itself.
6- Stand on the bottom rung and make sure your ladder is secure by bouncing the ladder off the wall pulling it to you. If it moves left or right then you need to make another adjustment.
7- Repeat Steps until you get a square ladder to the wall you are going to climb.
8- Tie off your ladder with a Clove Hitch knot
**CAUTION** DO NOT USE YOUR LADDER IF THE GROUND IS WET OR OVER A DROPPER. CONDITIONS MUST BE DRY AND THE BOTTOM FEET OF YOUR LADDER MUST CONTACT THE GROUND FREELY. ANY HEIGHT OVER 15 FEET SHOULD HAVE ANOTHER PERSON HEELING THE LADDER AT THE BOTTOM TO HELP STABILITY AND PREVENT SLIPPAGE ***

The huge majority of ladder accidents occur because the ladder feet are not properly leveled. Over 40% of residential and industrial falls involved the use of ladders. The sale of extension ladders should probably be banned unless the ladder is equipped with an approved leveling device. Unfortunately, the leveling devices are quite expensive and can often cost as much as the whole extension ladder. Manufacturers and retailers can keep the ladder cost low by not including a leveling device for the feet and homeowners, in particular, rarely wish to double the price of the ladder.
