    You said "3 applications" toward the end of the video. Do you do 3 coats of wall paint - is that what you're referring to? If so, do you keep the original Frog Tape on the base while the wall paint is drying? I've always been told to remove the tape before the paint cures (when it has mostly dried). Thanks!

  • @LeeDoesStuff
    @LeeDoesStuffКүн бұрын

    Yes three coats of wall paint because the black baseboard is such a dark colour. It all depends on how stark the contrast is between your baseboard color and wall colour. Some paint covers better than others as well so you just have to take a look at things. The advice you were given on when to remove the frog tape is correct. I let it set up for about 20 minutes and then remove it. Good luck on your painting projects.

    Gently pry the baseboard away from the drywall using a drywall knife. This creates a gap, insert a long drywall knife into the gap while painting. clean the knife after each pass with a sponge. Use a rubber mallet and a block of soft pin to push baseboard back. set any nails which may protrude.

    The huge majority of ladder accidents occur because the ladder feet are not properly leveled. Over 40% of residential and industrial falls involved the use of ladders. The sale of extension ladders should probably be banned unless the ladder is equipped with an approved leveling device. Unfortunately, the leveling devices are quite expensive and can often cost as much as the whole extension ladder. Manufacturers and retailers can keep the ladder cost low by not including a leveling device for the feet and homeowners, in particular, rarely wish to double the price of the ladder.

    You ruined the bad ass design in the natural wood. You should have sanded and restained the cabnits. You don't see solid, natural looking wood like that anymore. Should have white wash, lightly white stain to keep the natural grain showing through.

    To condition or not to condition! That’s the dilemma! I’ve been wearing cowboy boots and boots in general most of my life. My son just bought a pair of cowboy boots . He loves the look of stressed brown leather but I told him once he conditions with a leather conditioner, they won’t look like that anymore .

    Beautiful job!! Doing the same thing this week on a set of stairs. Sanded with 220 all day today. Planning to prime with extreme bond tomorrow then emerald urethane the next day. How long did you wait in between coats of the emerald? I wasn’t sure. Also that white dove color what type of sheen is that? Semi gloss? Looks amazing!!

  • @LeeDoesStuff
    @LeeDoesStuff3 ай бұрын

    I waited about 2 hours between coats. The urethane dries very fast. The sheen is a satin finish. Best of luck on your project and hope you have the much needed patience to complete it hahaha.

    i would have used BIN. Its too much of a risk with Tannin, which that product doesnt cover

  • @LeeDoesStuff
    @LeeDoesStuff3 ай бұрын

    The reviews are good for BIN primer so I will give it a try on the next project and see how it works. I haven’t had any issues with the Sherwin Bonding Primer and have used it on many projects. The only time I ever had trouble with a primer is if I didn’t let it set up for at least a day. If I rushed the process the tannins would leak through but I haven’t made this mistake in many years. Thanks for the advice on the BIN primer it will be interesting to see how it works.

    Great tip! Do you have any similar tips for working on ceiling patches? During my prep work and cutting, I used a wide box to catch the dust and debris but when it comes time to sand mud, I know there will be a lot of finer particulates and dust created.

  • @LeeDoesStuff
    @LeeDoesStuff4 ай бұрын

    A lot of the time if I’m dealing with something like you’re talking about I grab the shop vac and turn it on as I’m sanding. I hold the hose up close to the area I’m working on and it sucks pretty much everything up! Works like a charm, try it next time and let me know what you think.

    The thing I struggle with is that when I pull the frog tape, it actually peels the paint as well. I'm using the yellow frog tape, and I'm applying Benjamin Moore paint (chantilly lace) on top of Behr drywall primer. I've never had this issue before in my life, and this year all of a sudden I can't make it work.

  • @LeeDoesStuff
    @LeeDoesStuff4 ай бұрын

    Oh no that really sucks! I know the struggles when things should work and they just don’t. Do you think the Behr Primer could be the reason? I’m not too familiar with Behr products, I typically use Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. Let me know if you find the solution so we can all trouble shoot in the future.

  • @epgui
    @epgui4 ай бұрын

    @@LeeDoesStuff I mean, I guess I can't rule anything out, but I was using it because I thought it was a quality product. I wouldn't expect the primer to be the issue, but who knows.

  • @LeeDoesStuff
    @LeeDoesStuff4 ай бұрын

    Yeah me either. I wouldn’t think it would be that but you never know. Please let me know if you stop using it and the problem goes away. I’m always looking at ways to get better. Thanks for sharing.

  • @dazquez
    @dazquez4 ай бұрын

    @epgui Make sure to sand the surface and clean it. You can also follow this step with primer but I use paint with primer and it works for me. Sometimes the painted surfaces are full or dirt and oils that don’t allow paint to properly adhere, and they easily peel with any tape

  • @jasonw9277
    @jasonw92773 ай бұрын

    Try delicate purple tape it's more gentle than yellow frog, I stopped using yellow frog a while ago for this reason as well as the purple is much easier to see on white trim and actually lays out better than any other tape I've used. Use your trim paint to seal the tape as that works better than water.

  • @LeeDoesStuff
    @LeeDoesStuff4 ай бұрын

    The client wanted the same style of light but more light. If you pay close attention when I’m taking the originals off they only are wired for one light. The new light fixtures I put in although a very similar design are wired for 2 lights per fixture. The new lights provide double the light. This process will work with a different design as well. They are all pretty much the same. Good luck with your lighting project.
