Laboratory Preparation of Chlorine
Chlorine is a highly reactive gas and does not occur free in nature. It was first prepared by Carl Scheele in 1774. Chlorine can be obtained in the laboratory by the oxidation of concentrated Hydrochloric acid by oxidizing agent Manganese dioxide.
