Laboratory Preparation Of Chlorine: Using Potassium Permanganate Explained!

We discuss how to prepare chlorine gas in the lab using the purple potassium manganate(IV). Reasons for: no heating, lab apparatus used, absence of water and possible presence of calcium chloride are all highlighted.

    I think potassium permanganate is an oxidising agent like chlorine... It can remove electrons
