Labor of Love with M. Night Shyamalan | Revisionist History: Development Hell | Malcolm Gladwell
Ойын-сауық
Before M. Night Shyamalan became a household name for his mind bending thrillers like “The Sixth Sense” and “Signs”, he was just a young screenwriter in love. And during those blissful early years of marriage he wrote a love story. The screenplay for “Labor of Love” sold right away, and over the next 30 years or so there would be numerous attempts to make it into a movie. There was a major studio, there were A-list directors, Shyamalan even found his perfect star. In this episode, M. Night Shyamalan tells Malcolm about the script that haunts him.

Two of the world's most talented story tellers share their deepest thoughts about love, ambition, and disappointment. Score: 100%
I think Mr Shyamalan should consider letting his wife decide what to do about this script. Lovely interview. Thanks to you both.
This was an absolute delight. Thank you, gentlemen. I reminded me of M.Knight's visit in Harrisburg, PA the early 2000's and Governor's award for best he Arts.
I have no standing to tell someone how to produce a movie, but I was hooked on the idea of this tale being locked to the '90s era, characterized by unbound dogma and opportunities limitless, against the described arc of loss and powerlessness at such a personal level. In other words, don't add in all of the modern trappings of technology and connectivity to update the story, but make it a historical fiction, with a lens of a different, modern era. Or, maybe I'm simply nostalgic after a discussion of choices made and consequences under review; always a great interview here.
Fascinating. Looking forward to seeing MNight’s movie.
Please make this movie. We need to see hope in pure things like the Love you describe. Please.
