    @@ChrisPugh What part are you missing? My guess: the reel center spindle. Here's the trick. LabBox promised two reels. What they delivered was two sets of reel flanges and one center spindle. They cheaped out and propose that you use the same spindle for each size reel, meaning that you have to take the reel apart every time you want to change film size. To add insult, the reels can easily be assembled with the flanges 180 degrees out of alignment, which caused your problem. The included instructions, some 50+ pages, totally suck on reel assembly. Of course, once you have suffered the problem, its not a mistake you are likely to make again, but including a center spindle for each reel would have avoided the issue. Pretty cheap ass for a Kickstarter that was 938% funded (and still hasn't delivered the promised alternative digital timer/temp tank top).

    @@randallstewart175 It was not the reels. It was the tube that holds the 120 inside the tank. The one that you rotate to close the light seal.

    Thank you for your review. I am interested in purchasing one since I don't have the room for a darkroom right now. I also like that you can develop 120 as well.

    Hey hey, I use the Epson V550 Photo to scan my photos. I've also dabbled with the Lomography mobile film scanner. The V550 is definitely the higher quality scanner for sure. But for $40 bucks on sale, the Lomo mobile film scanner is pretty decent too.

  • @SweetLouPhotography

    @SweetLouPhotography

    4 жыл бұрын

    I genuinely don't know much about 3D printing, but I imagine it could be. You would just need some schematics because it seems like there's a lot of bits and bobs within that make it light sealed.

  • @randallstewart175

    @randallstewart175

    If you are serious, the answer is No. There are a number of little pieces incorporated in the LabBox which make it totally uneconomical, or impossible, to duplicate. I suspect that the reel flanges and center spindle could not be done with 3-D printing because of the detail involved. Almost all of the LB parts are injection molded.

    The Lab-Box is cleverly designed and manufactured with high precision. When properly assembled and used, it works very well. User problems follow from the poorly prepared manual, some 40 pages long. The assembly of the reels is the weakest point. The manual directions are almost pointless, and you are left to treat do this like a puzzle box. I thinl they changed the design of the reels in a major way and did not take the time to redraft the related manual instructions. While it might be ideal for beginners, its $150-200 price tag makes it 6 times more expensive than a conventional developing tank - hard to justify. The Kickstarter backers who funded this product got screwed out of a spare reel, and we may yet get screwed out of the digital "Pro" tank top which was not delivered as promised. It is still promised, but in the weakest of voices.

  • @SweetLouPhotography

    @SweetLouPhotography

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hahahha glad you're invested in the owen scale. I actually didn't realize the price hike (though I think that's typical of kickstarters) It's actually because of the design things. Easy to spill, and it's designed to allow you to assemble the reel backwards lol. That shouldn't be possible.

    @@SweetLouPhotography The wows are great! I really like the concept but it is definitely a steep price. I'm trying to convince myself that it might be worth it in time saved not locking myself in my kids bathroom to develop film.

    @@daryl75052 Yeah that is steep. I think I paid 120 for the kickstarter. TBH it's been so long I forgot lol. If you sit tight though, I bet you'll see some used ones floating around on ebay and craigslist soonish, you might be able to cop one cheaper there. Personally, I do really like mine. It is definitely a convenience.
