As a Breton, I thank the over-centralised Parisian state for destroying my ancestors language and culture. I thank them for forcing Breton children to wear bad fitting wooden shoes before WW2 and shaming them for speaking the older language of Breton. The French language is a mixture of two foreign languages......Latin and Germanic Frankish

@@penderyn8794this problem is sadly not specific to France. Pretty much every country has endangered its regional languages by promoting a unique national language. However, this attitude is shifting, and France nowadays rather values and promotes (even though progress in that matter is still to be made) its regional languages. I do respect and appreciate France's various regions, languages and cultures, and I do regret the former repression of them. However, I personally don't think the French state diserves hatred for having bad parts in its history. I mean, what state doesn't?

As an American who is interested in France and its history, I like this rendition a lot! I also found it symbolically fitting that the children's verse (5:42 to 6:19) has various older flag maps of France, representing "our elders". Thanks for posting this!

Right?! There's a _je ne sais quois_ aspect to that Republican/Popular Sovereignty awakening each nation went through, and they always come up with this beautiful sense of camaraderie among the unlanded that just didn't exist in the centuries before the Enlightenment. (Not in Europe, at least) _We the People_ _Sinn Fein_ _Unione, Forza e Libertà_ They're all well and good, but nothing actually rouses the blood quite like being told to get off your ass before the lords and the class-traitors kill us all!

@@ulisesrodriguez2961Louis XVI était sans aucun doute un des rois les moins oppressive de sa lignée, les erreurs qu'il a commis était de s'enfuir sous la peur et surtout surtout opprimé les révoltes. Mais il a tout fait pour calmer les républicains en leur donnant des droits, il vise une monarchie constitutionnelle comme celle de la grande Bretagne. Sans doute tard, mais il était de loin un des rois avec un esprit ouvert sur les droits de ces concitoyens. Louis XVI est connu pour être un dictateur mais c'est faux, c'est comme Robespierre et la terreur. Il était contre la terreur.

Le drapeau Français flottera toujours dans mon cœur, j’aime ce pays, son histoire, sa culture, sa langue, ses grands personnages historiques.. Je t’aime ma France, certes tu ne vas pas très bien mais en ce jour de fête nationale je rends hommage aux restes de mes compatriotes, à nos soldats tombés et levés et aux grands Hommes de la Patrie. Par ailleurs le défilé n’a vraiment surpris, meilleur que l’année précédente mais je trouve que la fin était meilleure l’année dernière. J’étais aussi surpris que nous n’avons pas joué l’hymne national indien. Sinon, une pensée a nos Roys, nos Empereurs et nos présidents et surtout vive la France !! 🇫🇷⚜️❤️

Hey! I've been a fan of this channel for some time, and I really like its content. Thank you for your work in valuing and promoting culture and heritage from around the world. In a couple weeks, the 25th of July is the day of Saint James, Santiago, the national holiday of Galiza, on the northwest of Iberia. I would like to sugest you to upload on your channel the galician anthem - Os Pinos (The Pines). It is a poem from the 1800s when Galiza was experiencing its "Rexurdimento" - the resurgence of a national conscience and unique identity after centuries of castilianization. It talks about a people that long have been quiet, like the trees of their land, but among whom a sound is being heard ever more stronger. This sound is the voice and will of the galician people who want to reclaim their language and identity, and be recognized as a Nation in itself, not a mere "region" of Spain. In this struggle, the women of Galicia are valued as mothers and educators of a numerous offspring. It heavily draws on the celtic heritage of Galiza - bards, castros, harps. In fact galicians are considered to be the children of Breoghán - an ancient celtic hero said to have dwelled in the galician coast, from which he spotted an island. He went with his kin to populate it with celts. We know this island as Éire - Ireland. The ethnic and linguistic proximity with Portugal is also mentioned. Portugal is seen as the part of Galiza that remained free and where the language and culture flourished. The portuguese understand the galician tongue, while the castilians consider it a rustic patois. Pondal believed that only when both parts of the ancient Nation were to be reunited, the fate of Galiza would be accomplished. Today only the first 4 stanzas of the poem are widely used, but the original text is longer. Nonethless I managed to find a version where all the 10 stanzas are sung. I made a very direct, "dry" translation of each verse, so you could understand the meaning of the poem. I also used the AGAL normative of Galician - the version closer to Portuguese than to Castilian. I think the young heroes lines is such a poetic statement, it didn't tell you that France will die freely, no, it says with such strength and determination, that France will stand forever free and defiant, way beyond the calibre of the usual words of defiance, like "you can't kill us all", no, it put forth more mighty words, "Not only will you not kill us all, but there will be more of us, free and determined, and France will no stop until all oppression is eradicated." It's a declaration of eternal war against tyranny and I love it!
