The Marseillaise was a very popular revolutionary song an anthem to freedom a patriotic call to fight against tyranny and foreign invasion. The French National Convention adopted it as the Republic's anthem in 1795The song acquired its nickname after being sung in Paris by volunteers from Marseille marching to the capitalThe song is the first example of the "European march" anthemic style. The anthem's evocative melody and lyrics have led to its widespread use as a song of revolution and its incorporation into many pieces of classical and popular music.
Ursprung der Marseillaise
Die Marseillaise wurde von Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in der Nacht auf den 26. April 1792 während der französischen Kriegserklärung des Ersten Koalitionskrieges im elsässischen Straßburg verfasst. Sie hatte zunächst den Titel Chant de guerre pour l’armée du Rhin, d. h. „Kriegslied für die Rheinarmee“, und war dem Oberbefehlshaber und Gouverneur von Straßburg, dem im Jahr zuvor zum Marschall von Frankreich ernannten Grafen Luckner, gewidmet. Daher ertönt die Marseillaise noch heute täglich um 12:05 Uhr vom Glockenspiel auf dem Marktplatz in Cham in der Oberpfalz, dem Geburtsort des Grafen. Das ganze Lied dient der Mobilisierung des Volkes.
Bereits gegen Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde bestritten, dass de Lisle Urheber der Marseillaise sei; Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts und erneut 1915, anlässlich der Überführung von de Lisles Gebeinen in den Invalidendom in Paris, erschienen Zeitungs- und Zeitschriftenartikel, denen zufolge die Melodie ausgerechnet von einem deutschen Komponisten (einem gewissen Organisten Holtzmann in Meersburg) stamme oder jedenfalls auf eine alte deutsche Melodie zurückgehe. Diese Behauptung taucht immer wieder auf (zumeist anekdotisch oder im Zusammenhang mit einer Polemik gegen französische Staatssymbole), obwohl sie spätestens seit 1922 als überzeugend widerlegt gelten kann.

Das Lied erhielt den Namen Marseillaise, weil es von Soldaten aus Marseille am 30. Juli 1792 beim Einzug in Paris, kurz vor dem Tuileriensturm, gesungen wurde Die Hymne erfreute sich bald großer Bekanntheit und Beliebtheit und wurde auf allen größeren Bürgerfesten der jungen Republik gesungen. 1793 verfügte der Nationalkonvent, dass die Marseillaise auf allen öffentlichen Veranstaltungen gesungen werden solle und auf Antrag des Abgeordneten Jean de Bry erklärte der Nationalkonvent am 14. Juli 1795 die Marseillaise per Dekret zum „französischen Nationalgesang“ (chant national). Die Marseillaise setzte sich dabei vor allem gegen Le Chant du Départ, ein anderes bekanntes Revolutionslied durch.

I am an Austrian, and am extremely proud of my heritage, but whenever I hear the French anthem being played it makes me think of the splendour, grace, honour and glory that France once had. This sense of pride still burns in the hearts of all French people. With the way the World is today, people need to look back at what our ancestors did and embrace in their memory. People of France, you have such a proud history, never forget it. Frenchmen, and women need to relive the past glories of their forebears and return France to its proud past. Vive la Nation! Great song! I am a proud American, but I love reading the history of what allies our two nations have been. It dates all the way back to 1781 at Yorktown. It's a great story of the French fleet coming up from the West Indies and sealing the British off from retreat resulting in the birth of a new nation!! Then other great stories of fighting side by side, including two world wars. Let's not forget the great gift France gave us called the Statue of Liberty! I feel like there is a great historical bond between France and America. Also I really enjoyed visiting France on my first trip to Europe when I was eighteen years old.

Hier mal ein paar Beispiele warum nicht: "Feindlichkeit" existiert zwar als Wort, das würde aber niemand in diesem Zusammenhang benutzen. "Warum nehmen Sie denn es an..." ist grammatikalisch falsch, korrekt wäre "Warum nehmen Sie denn an..." Das Präteritum "Ich erzählte", ist zwar grammatikalisch die richtige Form, aber kein Mensch redet so. Stattdessen müsstest du, damit du als deutscher Muttersprachler durchgehst, das Perfekt, also "Ich habe erzählt", verwenden. "Um die Komplexität des Charakters eines Menschen zu zeigen" Auch hier: Das ist zwar von der Rechtschreibung und der Grammatik 100&ig richtig, aber keiner würde das so sagen oder schreiben. Stattdessen würde man sagen "um zu zeigen, wie komplex der Charakter von einem Menschen ist" Wenn du suggerieren willst du wärst deutscher Muttersprachler musst du statt dem Genitiv den Dativ nehmen, weil den Genitiv benutzt keiner mehr.

Eigentlich habe ich nie suggerieren wollen, dass ich ein Deutscher wäre(Ich habe es auch nicht gewagt weil ich seit nur etwa 15 Monaten Deutsch lerne). I am Japanese. When I hear the French national anthem, I envy French people. I feel a sense of pride in the history of the French nation, where freedom was won by the people. If Japan's national anthem were "La Marseillaise," I am sure the Japanese people would be braver and more united in their fight against the current corrupt domestic politics. Que vous mettiez des images des guerres mondiales, bien. Il manque la révolution française, dont est issue la Marseillaise. Par contre, mettre des images de Napoléon (attention, je ne pote pas de jugement sur lui), avec l'hymne national m'irrite. La marseillaise n'a pas été appréciée du tout par lui, allant jusqu'à quitter les lieux où elle était chantée , puis interdite sous les rois (Louis XVIII et Charles X), ainsi que sous Napoléon III et sous l'occupation nazie. Posez vous des questions sur le rapport entre notre hymne et les dictatures.

La Marseillaise is my favourite National Anthem. I am a Brit and my wife is French. She hates it. The Star Spangled Banner comes second,. O e a good day God Save the King comes in third, but it's not really very inspiring, even if we get as far as General Wade and crushing rebellious Scots.
