I'm half Polish and I like how the 🇮🇹anthem references my ancestral homeland. Likewise Italy is mentioned in the Polish national anthem. Also my mother's hometown of Wrocław is known as the Venice of the north because the city was built on islands formed by several natural channels of the Odra River.

Ti ringrazio, ma questa parte è rivolta verso di noi e non contro un popolo straniero. L'Italia si sente sempre divisa in regioni nonostante siamo uguali. Anche durante l'impero romano sapevamo di essere uguali, ma ogni regione voleva autogestirsi. Questo è il motivo delle innumerevoli città italiane, tutte cosí ricche culturalmente. È anche il motivo per cui nel rinascimento abbiamo combattuto con francesi o spagnoli per battere altre città italiane. Un passo di uno storico romano, durante la guerra civile di Gaio Mario e Silla, dice: "Ed i fratelli italiani dello stesso sangue si combatterono per ottenere la cittadinanza romana. I popoli italici volevano i meriti per aver reso Roma grande."

There is a famous saying "Having made Italy, now we need to make Italians". Contrary to what foreigners may perceive, italians are still completely divided. For instance many venetians still see the italian republic as an occupant, same with south tyroleans and sardinians. In fact, all of them have seen an extreme repression of their culture and identity (with south tyroleans being ironically the most protected group). For example the regional languages have been degraded to dialects (they aren't dialects at all since they don't derive from italian, but existed before it), making them seem less important or culturally inferior than/to italian. Moreover, even now, culturally (and economically) north italy and south italy are two different countries. The forced common language brought them closer, but the difference is still huge and seemingly unattainable.

La Germania ha 2 etnie (bavaresi e sassoni) e due religioni (ortodossi e cristiani). La Spagna ha 3 popoli (iberici, galleghi, catalani) in pancia, 2 religioni con una forte spinta mussulmana al sud. Il regno unito è tutto tranne che unito (Scozzesi odiano gli inglesi e gli Irlandesi sono celti mentre gli inglesi sono germanici.) La Francia ha talemente tante differenze che è inutile elencarle. Stesso il piccolo Belgio o la Svizzera hanno differenze enormi con regioni che non parlano nemmeno la stessa lingua e non accettano quella dell'altro. L'Italia ha un solo ceppo etnico (latino totalmente assimilato al greco del sud e all'etrusco del nord) una sola religione dominante (cristianesimo) e una cultura comune. Io, siciliano, sono nato da una svizzera e un padre della provincia di Parma. Ho parenti sparsi per tutta Italia, specie in Lombardia, e non ho trovato una differenza culturale, neanche una. Siamo identici ma ci crediamo divisi da sempre. L'unica, questa vera differenza ma che non cambia la sostanza, è quella economica (Sud ovviamente svantaggiato). È una condizione assurda la nostra, totalmente a svantaggio di noi stessi e senza senso che ci portiamo avanti dall'Impero Romano. Quando i romani non volevano concedere la cittadinanza romana agli italici ("Alleati" o "Socii") i popoli italici si sono ribellati ed hanno dato inizio alla guerra contro Roma. È stata l'unica guerra che Roma non è riuscita a vincere nel tempo. Gli italici ribelli hanno formato un loro senato, una loro capitale (Corfinio ribattezzata Italia per l'occasione) e una loro moneta chiamata sempre Italia. Romani e "Italici" si sono combattuti senza che nessuno vincesse sull'altro ed i Romani, pur utilizzando i loro migliori generali e soldati, non sono riusciti a imporsi. Perchè? Perchè gli italici componevano l'esercito romano, conoscevano le tattiche e le amministrazioni, il senato e le istituzioni, erano uguali a quelle romane perchè erano e siamo lo stesso popolo. I romani cedettero negli anni e concessero via via il diritto romano. La cosa che fa piú impressione è la divisione delle regioni fatta da Augusto che è praticamente identica a quella di oggi, significherá qualcosa. Polibio: "E gli italici (Intendendo romani) hanno dovuto combattere i loro fratelli italici, versando doppiamente il loro sangue." Stesso l'evoluzione del latino ha dato vita alle lingue romanze, nate dal dialetto del latino, ma la cosa impressionante è la vicinanza linguistica di ogni tipo dialettale della penisola. Talmente simile che Dante, e poi nel rinascimento, troverá una lingua comune per essere letto in tutta la penisola. Italiano che ha le radici in sicilia, si sviluppa a nord ed è infine diffuso partendo dalla Toscana. L'Italiano antico è inoltre l'unica lingua europea perfettamente leggibile ancora oggi (capire il francese del 1500 per un francese odierno è praticamente impossibile). L'Italia è un popolo che è sempre stato unito, che non ha risentito acutamente delle invasioni esterne, che non ha subito cambio di popolazione, genocidi o emigrazioni cosí massive da cambiare la nostra origine, ma che al contrario ha fatto sue quelle popolazioni e ne ha esportato la cultura. Gli italiani sono italiani da sempre, come gli Iraniani (o persiani). Noi peró, per motivi di egemonia sugli altri italiani, ci pensiamo divisi e non se ne puó piú. Francia e Spagna durante il rinascimento si sono divisi l'Italia proprio perchè eravamo cosí stupidi che gli italici, per dominare sugli altri italici, si sono alleati prima con Spagnoli e poi con Francesi senza sapere che sarebbe andato solo a nostro svantaggio. L'Italia, per questa nostra divisione interna totalmente inesistente, è passata dall'essere il paese piú influente e importante fino al 1600 ad uno dei tanti paesi europei. Complimenti alla nostra stupiditá

@@LePoiluI agree with this - and I wouldn’t split them, either, except to individual taste. « La Marseillaise » is perhaps a little more passionate and fiery from the outset, certainly more bloodthirsty than the Italian anthem, but “Fratelli d’Italia” comes at you in waves, builds slowly, and then hits like an atom bomb at the end. They’ve both got that godawful dirge, “God Save the King” licked, for sure (I’m British). As for the Russian or Soviet anthems, I always thought “Glinka” their best: beautiful, majestic, and in the best traditions of Russian classical music.

Actually this anthem was written during the 19th century, when Italy was still a monarchy. It should have been changed later (given that it had been chosen as a provisional anthem) but Parliament never deliberated the decision and so the song remained the official anthem of the country, also because, after WW2, they thought its words could describe both the "Risorgimento" period and the recent partisan war against Nazi and Fascist forces, fought together with the Allies, as they had both led to the liberation of the country from the "stranger" (the Austria-Hungary before and the Nazi forces after). That's why it's still our anthem after more than 150 years

L' Italia ha scelto l'inno risorgimentale riconoscendone il valore storico. Perciò entrambe le bandiere sono legittime. Peccato però che la versione repubblicana abbia tagliato buona parte del Canto degli italiani di fatto snaturandola.

E' la bandiera che è sbagliata. Questo inno nazionale italiano è stato ufficializzato dopo la seconda guerra mondiale. @@m.p.2234 Monarchy is an historic accident in Italy especially in northern Italy. Actually before WW1 WW2 and monarchy ceased by referendum Gaetano Bresci shoot King Umberto1 down. Almost every italian is for most republican mindsetted. Because italian monarchism was a shitty oppressive abusive one. So nobody loves monarchy and politicians in gender either.
