L.W. Seecamp 32 Revisited Tabletop Review - Episode

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The L.W. Seecamp 32 automatic was my first tabletop review. I filmed that review back in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID pandemic lockdowns. I made that video just to have something to do. Since that initial review I’ve posted 100 MickMac Tabletop Reviews. Looking back at that LWS 32 review, it was fairly crude and basic yet it remains one of the more popular of my videos primarily due to the Seecamp’s popularity. Sadly, the Seecamp 32 has suffered from being very ammo finicky and from the lack of its recommended ammo. What good is a firearm for which you can’t find ammo and if you do its too expensive? Now, three years after my initial Seecamp review, I’m having some success in finding the proper ammo so I think it’s time to take another look at the L.W. Seecamp 32.

I've had mine since I bought it new in 1991.I have never had a misfire or any instance where it did not fire when the trigger was pulled.I just turned 65 the 6th of December 2023 and my Seecamp will be mine until I pass away. Best firearm I have ever owned!

I know it is a little nuts..I have had mine for some 2 1/2 years and never fired it. Why? Too pretty a gun. I will buy another in black and fire that one. It took me about 10 months in 2021 to find ammunition for it. Now, it is much more available and I have 200 rounds. Probably all I will ever need. If the gun comes available in .25, I may want that gun.

I do carry it in a DeSantis pocket holster. Nobody knows that I have it. If I had something bigger, I probably would not carry it. I doubt I will buy another in black...I will get another in .25 if they ever become available.

Ludwig did not invent the recoil spring within a spring, his son Larry( Leuder) designed it early on and it came to him late one night. His dad questioned what the spring could be used for. The early 25s had a single recoil spring with a guide rod. When the 32 was decided on, it was Larry’s insistence to be built. Larry holds the patent for the double spring as well as LWS ammunition. He died before bring the ammo to production. Ludwig did design and built two prototypes one 45acp as well as a 9mm, myself and others were lucky enough to fire these prototypes.

Never, EVER! pull the trigger with the magazine out. You'll break the gun at that very moment. There is a spring between the magazine and the left grip that will bend in the wrong direction and make the gun inoperable. These are fantastic firearms. So very well made. Just don't pull the trigger with the magazine out.

That is the Draw Bar spring. I have a KZread video on how to replace the draw bar spring. Since Larry placed the warning in the manual, he received many repairs on the draw bar spring as owners had to try keeping their finger on the trigger with slight pressure while removing the magazine and the reinserting the magazine. The magazine makes up the left side of this pistol.

I have owned 2 for over 5 years now. I gave one to my son. I am ntot sure what is up with your ammo issues... I live in TX, just mail order PMC Bronze when I need it. Never had a problem with the PMC or the Winchester I had prior. I just found some under $25/box online with Google. I only take mine to the range once/twice a year. Never fun to shoot. A few mags to keep familiar and use old ammo...any more is a waste imho after you get used to the pistol. I take my Beretta pistols for fun/mouse gun shooting. :)

that's reasonable in my opinion. there were not many options until late 90's keltec made the 380 pocket pistol which kicked off all the following pocket 380s and micro 9s. holster world is going through the same thing right now. phlster enigma decided to make a holster with its own belt so it can be worn in a dress or shorts. quite the high price on it too, i did buy one for myself but 10 years from now there will be dozens of holsters that have their own belt.

not smallest at all as width is not the only dimension in fact one of the less important ones. the length of the p32 is 5.1, vs 5.16 for the lcp etc. p32 is almost exactly the same size as ruger lcp at that point just get the lcp, lcp is more powerful, cheaper ammo, looks better etc. this seecamp otoh is a bit smaller than the lcp (for example, length 4.25). the p32 appears to be the same size as the kel tec 380 just chambered in 32. i had a kel tec .380 yrs ago that always jammed, where my lcp has always been reliable. that said i think they have the kinks worked out of the kel tecs by now.

@cryengine_x as I understand it the P32 is a lot more reliable than the 380s. Same goes for the 380 LWS. LCP is a good option but I prefer smaller calibers in this size.

Thanks for the question. If you mean that your's won't "fire" with Hornady rounds in the chamber, but will fire other rounds, then something is wrong with the rounds. If you mean your Seecamp won't "load" or won't "cycle" Hornady rounds, again it's the rounds. Seecamp added Hornady to its list of acceptable hollow-point rounds, but specifically suggests the Hornady 60 grain XTP. Remember, any ammunition with an overall length exceeding 0.910 inches probably won't feed or chamber correctly in the Seecamp. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe. Could be a slight tolerance issue with your Seecamp - or, as I was told once by a gunsmith friend, you may need to try a different box of Hornady. There are potential production variations that will occasionally create issues with rounds. Buy another box from a different store so you're more likely to get a different run. If the problem persist, then it's the gun. Hope this helps. Thanks for liking and subscribing.

Winchester whitebox fmj cycles without failures in mine. I dont think hollowpoints have enough velocity with such a short barrel to expand successfully. Penetration is most important with this under preforming round imho

I saw Con Air years ago but I can't remember what guns were in it and a fairly unmemorable film.I think that it was either about a sneaky CIA airline or the Federal prisoner transportation air service but i can't remember which as films were made about both.

Con Air was a 1997 Nicolas Cage movie, the theme of which centers on a prison break aboard a prisoner transport aircraft, nicknamed "Con Air". Not really one of my favorite films, but one of the few in which the Seecamp is seen. Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to comment. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe. Personally, I've been getting mine on-line. Ammo.com has PMC Bronze 32 ACP 50 rounds 60 Grain at $26 today, for example. Thanks for the question. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe.
