Léon Augustin Lhermitte, Master of Charcoal Drawing

Léon Augustin Lhermitte, the French painter and draughtsman had but one important teacher from the Ecole Des Beaux-arts, M. Lebroq, who introduced to several important artists from his teaching the secrets of Memory work.
Lhermitte would find his own way as a painter, he gradually grew from principally a black and white draughtsman on paper into the colorful painter of large Daily life pictures, and world recognition. An amazing story of the art of drawing and how it can be utilized to express everything needed.

Thank you! I didn't catch the time frame, so it seems that these scenes would be archaic in that period--but that just shows how differnt life was for common people in the Victorian era.
