“I’m doing so great”
A lot of us feel this way but there’s nothing we can do when society only values achievement. Either we have parents to obey, spouses to attract (or keep) and being a lone wolf by not chasing material success significantly reduces your chances of progressing in life. Even if we as individuals give up on the rat race, we are only hurting ourselves by bringing more negative attention towards us or driving our close ones away from us because they fear of the people on the path of not pursuing a high paying career or status. We end up all alone and then will need help again. Yes we may find others who aren’t worried about the shiny objects in life, but those relationships usually won’t be found in-person, or even a community of believers in-person. It’s a curse of not life itself, but the era in history we are experiencing. We no longer worry about masters enslaving people, rather we all enslaves ourselves because that’s how everyone else is surviving too.
